Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari perubahan kemampuan penalaran dan literasi sains siswa melaui penerapan pembelajaran berbasis socio-scientific issues (SSI) pada tema pencemaran lingkungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen semu dengan desain the static group pretest- posttest. Sampel penelitian adalah 63 siswa kelas VII semester genap pada tahun ajaran 2016/2017 di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes kemampuan penalaran bentuk uraian dan tes literasi sains bentuk pilihan ganda. Teknik pengolahan data melalui uji normalitas dan homogenitas, perhitungan N-gain, dan uji-t dua pihak. Hasil analisis data kemampuan penalaran menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan penalaran yang signifikan antara siswa yang diberi perlakuan pembelajaran berbasis SSI dengan siswa yang diberi perlakuan pembelajaran tidak berbasis SSI pada tema pencemaran lingkungan. Rata-rata posttest pada kelas eksperimen adalah 68,11, sedangkan kelas kontrol 59,37. Hasil yang signifikan ini dapat dilihat dari analisis uji T pada posttest dengan nilai signifikansi 0,005 > α (0,05). Hasil analisis data literasi sains menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan literasi sains yang signifikan antara siswa yang diberi perlakuan pembelajaran berbasis SSI dengan siswa yang diberi perlakuan pembelajaran tidak berbasis SSI pada tema pencemaran lingkungan. Rata-rata posttest pada kelas eksperimen adalah 81,19, sedangkan kelas kontrol 66,11. Hasil yang signifikan ini dapat dilihat dari analisis uji T pada posttest dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 > α (0,05). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis SSI dapat meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran dan literasi sains siswa. This study aims to study the change of students' reasoning and science literacy through the application of socio-scientific issues (SSI) based learning on the theme of environmental pollution. This research uses quasi experiment method with static group pretest-posttest design. The sample of research is 63 students of class VII even semester in academic year 2016/2017 in one of State Junior High School in Bandung City. Data collection uses a multiple-choice form of reasoning ability test and multiple-choice for science literacy test. Data processing techniques through normality and homogeneity tests, N-gain calculations, and two-t test. The results of data analysis of reasoning ability showed that there was a significant difference of reasoning ability between students who were treated with SSI-based learning with students who were not given SSI-based learning treatment on the theme of environmental pollution. The average post-test in the experimental class is 68.11, while the control class is 59.37. This significant result can be seen from the analysis of T test on the posttest with a significance value of 0.005> α (0.05). The results of data analysis of science literacy indicate that there is a significant difference in science literacy ability between students who are given SSI-based learning treatment with students who are not given SSI-based learning on the theme of environmental pollution. The average post-test in the experimental class is 81.19, while the control class is 66.11. This significant result can be seen from T test analysis on post-test with significance value 0.000> α (0,05). Based on the results of the study can be concluded that SSI-based learning can improve students' reasoning and science literacy ability.
