    Abstract

    Perkembangan remaja awal melibatkan perubahan aspek sosial yang meliputi perubahan relasi pada orang lain dan perubahan kepribadian. Perubahan relasi pada orang lain mempengaruhi seseorang untuk menyesuaikan diri secara sosial. Penyesuaian sosial siswa berkembang melalui proses interaksi sosial yang mempengaruhi harga diri. Harga diri terbentuk dari penerimaan, penghargaan dan respons yang baik dari masyarakat. Penelitian dilakukan kepada 360 siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lembang Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017 sebagai populasi penelitian. Tujuan dilakukan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan penyesuaian sosial dengan harga diri siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu penelitian korelasional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu berupa angket tertutup dengan menggunakan skala Likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif signifikan antara penyesuaian sosial dengan harga diri siswa. Semakin siswa mampu menyesuaikan diri di lingkungan sosial, maka semakin tinggi tingkat harga dirinya, sebaliknya semakin siswa tidak mampu menyesuaikan diri di lingkungan sosial, semakin rendah harga diri siswa. Penelitian menjadi rekomendasi alternatif program layanan bimbingan dan konseling SMP Negeri 1 Lembang untuk meningkatkan penyesuaian sosial dan harga diri siswa. ;---The development of early adolescent involves social aspect change which includes the change of their relation with other and the change of personality. The change of relation with other affects someone to adapt themselves socially. Students’ social adjustment is developed through social interaction process which affects self-esteem. This study is conducted to 360 of 8th graders in public junior high school of 1 Lembang academic year 2016/2017 as the population. The aim of this study is to find out the correlation of social adjustment and students’ self-esteem. The methodology used in this study was correlational study with quantitative approach. The instrument used is a closed questionnaire using Likert scale. The result showed there was a positive significant correlation between social adjustment and students’ self-esteem. The more students were able to adapt in the social environment, the higher their level of self-esteem, conversely, the more students were not able to adapt in social environment, the lower their level of self-esteem. The research becomes an alternative recommendation of Guidance and counseling programs of SMP Negeri 1 Lembang to improve social adjustment and student's self-esteem.
