Abstract

Dalam menilai kualitas sebuah produk, dapat dilihat dari tampilan visual hasil pengecatannya. Pengecatan adalah suatu proses aplikasi cat dalam bentuk cair pada sebuah obyek, di mana terjadi sebuah perubahan dari lapisan tipis menjadi lapisan keras. Kualitas hasil pengecatan dapat dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor kondisi fisik cat, hal ini dikarenakan pada proses pengecatan yang banyak melibatkan proses kimiawi dan fisika. Namun, pada penelitian ini hanya mengkaji pengaruh dari tiga faktor, yaitu efek Marangoni, topografi, dan ketinggian awal cat. Dalam penelitian yang mengambil kasus pada pengecatan mobil ini, dibangun model matematika yang menggambarkan dinamika ketinggian lapisan tipis cat. Model tersebut dibangun melalui pendekatan lubrikasi yang diperoleh dari penskalaan persamaan kontinuitas dan Navier-Stokes. Persamaan tersebut akan dicari solusi penyelesaiannya secara numerik dengan menggunakan metode beda hingga Forward Time Center Space (FTCS). Solusi yang telah diperoleh diselesaikan dengan bantuan software MATLAB untuk memudahkan proses perhitungan dan visualisasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui model evolusi topografi permukaan mobil yang dicat. Berdasarkan simulasi yang telah dilakukan, menunjukkan bahwa keberadaan efek Marangoni, topografi dan ketinggian awal cat memberikan pengaruh terhadap dinamika ketinggian cat.,---In assessing the quality of a product, it can be seen from the visual appearance of the painting. Painting is a process of paint application in liquid form on an object, where there is a change from a thin to a hard film. The quality of the painting can be influenced by several factors of the paint physical condition, it’s because the painting process involves many chemical and physical processes. However, in this research only studied the influence from three factors, namely the Marangoni effect, topography, and paint initial height.In this research which take a case on car painting, it was built a mathematical model that describe the dynamics of theheight of paint thin film. The model was built through lubrication approach obtained from continuity equation scaling and Navier-Stokes. The equation would be founda solution numerically by using finite different method Forward Time Center Space (FTCS). The obtained solution was finished with the help of MATLAB software to facilitate the calculation and visualization process. The result of this research is to know the evolution model of car painted surface topography. Based on the simulation that had been done, shows that the existence of Marangoni effect, topography and the paint initial height gives influence to the dynamics of paint height.
