Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya pemahaman konsep operasi hitung bilangan bulat siswa kelas IV. Hal itu terlihat dari belum dipahaminya tanda “-“ pada operasi hitung pengurangan dan tanda “-“ pada bilangan bulat negatif. Selain itu, sebagian besar siswa kurang paham tentang arah pergerakan operasi hitung bilangan bulat pada garis bilangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses pembelajaran dengan menerapkan pendekatan kontekstual untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep operasi hitung bilangan bulat siswa kelas IV dan mendeskripsikan peningkatan pemahaman konsep operasi hitung bilangan bulat siswa kelas IV setelah penggunaan pendekatan kontekstual. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV di SD C yang berjumlah 20 orang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas dengan desain yang dikemukakan Kemmis & Taggart sebanyak dua siklus. Instrumen pada penelitian ini adalah Lembar Observasi, Lembar Kerja Siswa, dan Lembar Evaluasi. Pengolahan data yang digunakan adalah analisis data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil tes pemahaman konsep siswa setelah penerapan pendekatan kontekstual. Pada siklus I persentase ketuntasan belajar siswa adalah 53% dengan perolehan nilai rata-rata kelas yaitu 77 dan mengalami peningkatan menjadi 93% dengan perolehan rata-rata kelas yaitu 89 pada siklus II. Dari hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan kontekstual dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep operasi hitung bilangan bulat pada siswa kelas IV.;---This research is motivated by a lack of understanding concept of integers operation of students fourth grade. Students have not understand the concept of negative integers. It can be seen from the unrecognized the sign "-" on the integers substraction operation and the sign "-" in the negative integers. In addition, most students do not understand the direction of the integers operation on the number line. This research aim to describe the process of learning by applying contextual approach to improve understanding concept of integers operations of fourth grade and describe the improvement of understanding concept of integer operation of fourth grades after the use of contextual approach. The subject of this research are learners of fourth grade totalling 20 students. This research use the classroom action research using the design from Kemmis & Taggart as much as two cycles. Instruments in this research are Observation Sheet, Student Worksheet, and Evaluation Sheet. Data processing used is quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The result of the research shows that there is an improvement of the students concept comprehension test after the application of the contextual approach. In the first cycle, the percentage of students learning completeness is 53% with the average class score is 77 and increase to 93% with the average class gain is 89 in cycle II. From these results, it can be concluded that the contextual approach can improve the understanding concept of integer operation of fourth grade.
