    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan antara coping strategies dengan protection motivation pada pasien hipertensi di Kota Bandung. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah pasien hipertensi di Kota Bandung yang berjumlah 165.483 kasus dengan sampel sebanyak 120 kasus. Hipotesis umum dalam penelitian ini adalah melihat adanya hubungan yang positif antara coping strategies dengan protection motivation pada pasien hipertensi di Kota Bandung. Sedangkan, hipotesis minor dari penelitian ini adalah melihat ada tidaknya hubungan antara emotion focused coping (EFC) dengan protection Motivation; dan melihat ada tidaknya hubungan antara problem focused coping (PFC) dengan protection motivation pada pasien hipertensi di Kota Bandung. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan uji Independent Samples T-tes, menyatakan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan protection motivation apabila dilihat dari bentuk coping strategies yang digunakan. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah korelasi point biserial. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, taraf signifikan 5% diperoleh r_( bis) = 0,08842 dan r_(p_bis ) = 0,070 dengan p < 0,05. Penelitian ini juga menyatakan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara coping strategies dengan protection motivation.;---This study examined the relationship between coping strategies and protection motivation among patien hypertension in Kota Bandung. One hundred twenty involved in the study. A common hypothesis in this study is looking at the presence the coping strategies with protection motivation in patients of hypertension in Kota Bandung. Meanwhile, minor hypothesis of this research is to see relation between a problem focused coping (EFC) with protection motivation; and relation between a problem focused coping (PFC) with protection motivation in patients of hypertension in Kota Bandung. Based on the results of the hypothesis test using Independent Samples T-Test, found that there is not a difference protection motivation when seen from coping strategies used. Data were anlysed using point biserial correlations and resulted r_( bis) = 0,08842 ; r_(p_bis ) = 0,070 and p < 0,05 in the level of significance 5%. The study also found that there is no correlation between the coping strategies with protection motivation.
