Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menyusun sebuah model yang efektif untuk mengembangkan kecerdasan emosi karyawan berdasarkan pendekatan konseling perkembangan yang dapat diterima baik secara teoritis maupun praktis; (2) menyusun panduan pelaksanaan model tersebut; (3) membuktikan keefektifan model tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development). Subyek penelitian adalah kayawan PT Semen Padang. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan inventori dan skala penilaian. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis statistik deskriptif dan ANCOVA. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa: (1) model pengembangan kecerdasan emosi karyawan berdasarkan pendekatan konseling perkembangan terbukti efektif dan dapat diterima baik oleh para ahli maupun praktisi, (2) panduan pelaksanaan model tersebut dapat diterima baik oleh para ahli maupun praktisi, (3) model tersebut beserta pedoman pelaksanaannya sangat fungsional untuk meningkatkan kecerdasan emosi karyawan PT Semen Padang yang sangat berguna untuk meningkatkan kinerja mereka. Merujuk pada hasil penelitian ini direkomendasikan kepada: (1) pimpinan PT Semen Padang untuk menggunakan model ini sebagai salah satu model bimbingan peningkatan kecerdasan emosi karyawannya, (2) peneliti di masa depan perlu melakukan penitian lebih lanjut untuk menguji keefektifan model ini, baik terhadap instrumen penelitian maupun terhadap model, pada tataran (setting) yang lebih luas dengan latar belakang karyawan yang beragam. Kata kunci: kecerdasan emosi, karyawan, konseling perkembangan. The present study is aimed at: (1) developing an effective model for enhancing employees’ emotional intelligence based on developmental counseling approach, which is acceptable both theoretically and practically as well; (2) composing guideline for the implementation of the model; (3) proving the effectiveness of the model. The study applies research and development approach, involving employees of PT Semen Padang as the study subjects, using inventory and rating scale as the research instruments. Descriptive statistics and ANCOVA are used to analyze research data. The study comes up with a number of finding that: (1) the model under study is effective to develop employees’ emotional intelligence and is well accepted by both related experts as well as practitioners; (2) the implementation guideline for the model is well accepted by both related experts and practitioners; and (3) the model and its implementation guideline are at the most functional in the efforts to enhance PT Semen Padang employees' emotional intelligence which is very important for their working performance. Referring to the study findings, it is recommended: (1) to the leadership of PT Semen Padang to apply the model under study for enhancing employees’ emotional intelligence in the effort to improve their working performance; (2) to the future researchers to conduct further study on the effectiveness of the model, including the validation of research instruments as well as the extension of the research subjects variation.
