Abstract

Keterampilan yang selama ini diajarkan kepada anak tunagrahita ringan di SLB Sukagalih belum mampu memandirikan anak untuk hidup di masyarakat. Hal ini disebabkan oleh keterampilan yang diajarkan di sekolah tersebut tidak berdasarkan apa yang di butuhkan di masyarakat atau dibutuhkan oleh lapangan kerja yang terdapat di sekitar sekolah/tempat tinggal anak. Untuk membangun keterampilan tersebut perlu mengkaji apa yang dibutuhkan di masyarakat atau di lingkungan di mana anak berada. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk mengetahui kondisi anak tunagrahita ringan yang mendukung kemampuan keterampilan kerja mengemas produk pertanian yang memungkinkan dijadikan bahan keterampilan fungsional bagi anak. Adapun pemilihan program keterampilan selain berdasarkan kebutuhan yang ada di masyarakat, telah disesuaikan antara pekerjaan dengan kondisi fisik, mental/kognisi, sosial dan minat anak terhadap pekerjaan tersebut serta penerimaan terhadap tenaga tunagrahita ringan oleh penyedia pekerjaan. Beberapa pekerjaan di tempat pengemasan produk pertanian, dapat dilakukan oleh anak tunagrahita, karena pekerjaan yang tersedia dapat dikatakan tidak terlalu sulit dan tidak membutuhkan pemikiran, pekerjaan yang tersedia cenderung memerlukan kerja tangan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Metode Penelitian dan Pengembangan (Research and Development/R&D). Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan semiloka/diskusi. Adapun prosedur perolehan data dalam penelitian ini melalui tahapan sebagai berikut: (1) tahap eksplorasi, (2) tahap pembuatan program dan (3) implementasi program dalam hal ini hanya dilakukan uji terbatas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa anak tuangrahita ringan mampu mengerjakan pekerjaan yang semi-skill yaitu pekerjaan mengemas produk pertanian, pekerjaan yang dikuasai dan disenangi akan menyebabkan mereka tekun bekerja serta penyedia lapangan pekerjaan mengemas produk pertanian bersedia menerima anak tunagrahita yang mau bekerja di tempat tersebut. Skills that have been taught to the mild mental retarded children in the SLB (Special School) Sukagalih has not been able to teach the student to live independently in the community. This is due to the skills being taught in the schools is not based on what is needed in the community or required by employment nearby to the school or to the place the child lives. Assessment of what the community actually needed is necessary to determine what skills to teach. This research intends to explore the potential skills that can be raised in the school environment, which is possible to be used as student’s functional skill training materials. One of the observed potential skills is the agricultural product packing skill. The selection of the skill program besides based on the needs in the local society is also adapted with student’s physical condition, mental/cognition capacity, social status, personal interest to the activity, and the acceptability of the host employer to mild-mentally retarded workforce. Some of the activity in the agricultural packaging work routine is possible to be done by mild-mentally retarded student. The work activity is relatively easy and does not require thinking; the work routine that is available considered as hand-only job. The method used in this research is Research and Development (R&D) method. Data obtained through observation, interview, documentation, and workshop/ discussion. The procedures for obtaining the data in this study are through (1) exploration, (2) programming, (3) program implementation in this case use limited test. Result showed that mild-mentally retarded student are able to do semi-skilled work, which in this study is packaging agricultural product. Another findings from this study is that a certain job or activity which student able to do and enjoy will cause them to work diligently. Moreover, the employer is willing to accept mild-mentally retarded student who wants to work at the place. Recommendations given to SLB Sukagalih and the educators and curriculum implementers to implement the job/skill training program as the result of this study.
