Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dari hasil observasi yang dilakukan di SMP Negeri 1 Lembang. Hasil observasi menunjukkan adanya permasalahan yang terjadi dalam proses pembelajaran IPS dikelas. Permasalahan tersebut adalah, siswa kesulitan mengemukakan pendapatnya, siswa belum mampu menjawab pertanyaan dan menyimpulkan materi dengan baik, kemudian pembelajaran di kelas yang monoton. Dengan berbagai permasalahan tersebut, peneliti memutuskan memberikan solusi untuk memperbaiki kualitas pembelajaran, yaitu dengan penggunaan video isu-isu sosial kontemporer untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa (Penelitian tindakan kelas di kelas VII-E SMP Negeri 1 Lembang). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, melihat kemampuan berpikir kritis dan upaya mengatasi kendala penggunaan video isu-isu sosial kontemporer untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Dari penelitian tersebut, diperoleh hasil bahwa, pertama dengan melakukan perencanaan maka pelaksanaan siklus I sampai III mengalami peningkatan penilaian keterlibatan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media video isu-isu sosial. Kedua Penggunaan media video isu-isu sosial kontemporer untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dapat dijadikan sebagai sumber informasi untuk siswa agar dapat memahami konteks yang dibahas dalam proses pembelajaran. Ketiga hasil dari penggunaan media video isu-isu sosial kontemporer untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS pada setiap siklusnya sudah meningkat dan berada dalam kategori baik, hal ini berdasarkan penilaian yang dilakukan setiap tindakan persiklusnya. Keempat Kendala yang dihadapi dalam menggunakan media video isu-isu sosial kontemporer salah satunya adalah keterbatasan guru dalam memilih video yang menarik bagi semua siswa. Oleh karena itu dilakukan refleksi sebagai upaya memperbaiki kekurangan-kekurangan yang mungkin akan terjadi agar kegiatan pembelajaran berikutnya lebih baik lagi ;--- The research was motivated from the observation made in SMP Negeri 1 Lembang. Observations indicate any problems that occur in the process of learning social studies in the classroom. The problems are, students' difficulties in delivering opinion, not being able to answer questions and conclude the material well, then learning in the classroom is still monotonous. With these issues, researchers decided to provide solutions to improve the quality of learning, that is with the use of video contemporary social issues to improve students' critical thinking skills (classroom action research in class VII-E SMP Negeri 1 Lembang). The purpose of this study was to describe the planning, implementation, see the critical thinking skills and overcome the use of video contemporary social issues to improve students' critical thinking skills. From these studies, the results are, first by planning, so the implementation of cycle I to III increased ratings of student involvement in the learning process by using social issues video media. Second, the use of video media contemporary social issues to improve critical thinking skills can be used as a source of information for students to understand the context discussed in the learning process. Third, the result of the use of video media contemporary social issues to improve the critical thinking skills of students in IPS in each cycle have increased and is in good category, it is based on an assessment conducted every action in each cycle. Fourth, one of the obstacles encountered in using video media contemporary social issues is the limitation of the teacher in choosing the videos that appeal to all students. Therefore, reflection was done as an effort to improve the deficiencies that may be incurred to make the next learning better
