Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan berdasarkan permasalahan kurangnya pemahaman siswa dalam potensi budaya daerah. Oleh karena itu perlu peningkatan pemahaman siswa tentang potensi budaya daerah melalui media video dokumenter dalam pembelajaran IPS. Penggunaan media video dokumenter diyakini lebih memudahkan siswa dalam meningkatkan pemahaman tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana perencanaan, pelaksanaan, peningkatan serta kendala dan solusi yang muncul dalam mengatasi kendala selama proses penelitian. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan menggunakan model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yang setiap siklusnya terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan dan refleksi pelaksanaan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan di SMP Pasundan 2 Bandung kelas VII C dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, tes, catatan lapangan dan studi dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dalam dua aspek yaitu kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya. Peningkatan pemahaman siswa tentang potensi budaya daerah terlihat dari 7 indikator pemahaman, yakni menafsirkan, mencontohkan, mengklasifikasikan, merangkum, menyimpulkan, membandingkan dan menjelaskan. Seluruh aspek ini dapat dilihat dari hasil observasi dan hasil tes yang mengalami perkembangan dari siklus pertama yang berada pada kategori cukup yaitu sebesar 50,42%, siklus kedua yang berada pada kategori baik sebesar 70,31%, siklus ketiga berada pada kategori baik yang mencapai 85,29% hingga siklus keempat atau terakhir yang berada pada kategori baik sebesar 88.79%. Kesimpulannya, melalui media video dokumenter dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang potensi budaya daerah. --- This research is done based on the lack of students’ understanding about the potential of the local culture. Therefore, it is very important to enhance students’ understanding with regards to the potential of the local culture through the medium of documentary video in learning social studies. The use of documentary video is believed to be easier for students to improve that understanding. This study aims to explain how the planning, implementation, improvement and emerging challenges and solutions in overcoming obstacles during the research process. The method used in this research is the Classroom Action Research using models proposed by Kemmis and Mc Taggart in which each cycle consists of planning, action, observation and reflection of implementation. The data collection was done in the class of VII C at SMP Pasundan 2 Bandung through observation, interview, test, field notes and documentation. The data analysis was done in two aspects, which is quantitative and qualitative. The result of this study shows that improving students' understanding of the potential of the local culture is seen from the 7 indicators of understanding, namely interpreting, exemplifying, classifying, summarizing, inferring, comparing, and explaining. All of these aspects can be seen from the result of the observation and the test result that have developed from the first cycle which stands in enough category of 50.42%, the second cycle which stands in good category of 70.31%, the third cycle which stands also in good category and reaches 85.29% up to the fourth or last cycle which stands in good category of 88.79%. In conclusion, through the medium of documentary video can enhance students' understanding of the potential of the local culture.
