Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya optimisme bagi peserta didik. Optimisme bermanfaat untuk peserta didik dalam menghadapi berbagai permasalahan hidup, baik saat ini maupun di masa depan. Fakta di lapangan menunjukkan adanya orientasi hidup pesimis dikalangan peserta didik. Penelitian bertujuan menguji keefektifan model ABCDE Seligman untuk peningkatan optimisme peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu eksperimen kuasi dengan subjek tunggal berpola A-B. Populasi penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 15 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015, dengan subjek penelitian peserta didik berusia 13-14 tahun (N=3) dengan kategori pesimis dan skor rendah pada setiap aspek. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor optimis yang signifikan terhadap subjek penelitian antara fase baseline (A) dan fase intervensi (B). Temuan ini menjelaskan bahwa model ABCDE Seligman efektif untuk meningkatkan optimisme peserta didik. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, maka model ABCDE Seligman dapat dijadikan upaya preventif oleh konselor dalam menangani konseli dengan orientasi hidup pesimis, agar menjadi lebih optimis. Kata Kunci: Peserta Didik, Optimisme, Model ABCDE Seligman.   This research is might be caused by the importance of optimism for students. Optimism benefit for students to handle their life problems, both now and in the future. In fact showed a pessimistic life orientation among students. This research was aimed to valuate the effectiveness of Seligman ABCDE’s Models for improve students optimism. The research used quasi experiment with single subject A-B models. The population in this research was eight grade students of SMP Negeri 15 Bandung Academic Year 2014/2015 with subject research are students aged 13-14 years (N=3) with pessimistic category and lower scores on every aspect. The result showed a significant increasing of optimistic scores of the research subjects between baseline phase (A) and intervention phase (B). This findings suggest that the Seligman ABCDE’s models effective for improve students optimism. Based on this, the Seligman ABCDE’s models can be used as a preventive effort by counselor for dealing people with pessimistic life orientation, to be more optimistic.
