Abstract

Problem Based Instruction merupakan salah satu model pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep, akan tetapi pada pembelajaran geografi di SMA Kartika XIX-1 Bandung model pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction belum diterapkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction terhadap pemahaman konsep melalui metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI IIS 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI IIS 4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes, tugas, dan lembar observasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan statistik, yaitu uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, uji normalitas menggunakan chi square, uji homogenitas menggunakan uji-F, dan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : (1) terdapat perbedaan hasil tes antara sebelum dan setelah pembelajaran pada kelompok eksperimen, ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan skor pada saat pre-test dan saat post-test, (2) terdapat perbedaan hasil tes antara sebelum dan setelah pembelajaran pada kelompok kontrol, ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan skor pada saat pre-test dan saat post-test, (3) terdapat perbedaan pemahaman konsep antara kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol, hal ini ditunjukkan dengan skor rata-rata pada kelas eksperimen termasuk kategori tinggi sedangkan rata-rata skor pada kelas kontrol termasuk kategori sedang. Kesimpulannya, model pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep peserta didik pada mata pelajaran geografi kelas XI IIS 2 di SMA Kartika XIX-1 Bandung, pada materi pokok Pencemaran Lingkungan Hidup. Kata kunci : Problem Based Instruction, Pemahaman Konsep, Peserta Didik, IIS (Ilmu-Ilmu Sosial Problem Based Instruction is one of the learning models that can improve the comprehension of the concept, but in teaching geography subject in Kartika XIX senior high school Bandung this model has not applied. This research aims to know the influence of application of Problem Based Instruction learning model towards comprehension of the concept design method through experiments with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The subject of this research is the students of class XI IIS 2 as experiment class, and the student of XI IIS 4 as control class. Research instrument in this study uses the test, assignment, and the observation sheet. Data analysis uses statistical techniques, namely validity test, reliability test, test of normality using chi square, its homogeneity test using an F-test, and test hypotheses using a T-test. The results showed that: (1) difference between the test results before and after learning of the experiment, demonstrated by an increase in the score during of pre-test and when post-test, (2) difference between the test results before and after learning in the control group, demonstrated by an increase in the score during of pre-test and when post-test, (3) difference of concept of comprehension between experimental class with control class. This is indicated by the average score on the experimental class are in high categories, while the average score on the controller class in mediocre score. In conclusion, the model of Problem Based Instruction learning affecting the comprehension of learners in geography subjects at Class IIS 2 in SMA Kartika XIX-1 Bandung, on the subject matter of the Environmental Pollution.
