Abstract
Ita Hardianti. (2013). Kontribusi Perpustakaan Sekolah terhadap Kebutuhan Informasi Siswa Di SMA Negeri 3 Bandung. Prodi Perpustakaan dan Informasi. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh peran perpustakaan sekolah dalam menyediakan sumber informasi yang dibutuhkan oleh siswa. Ketersediaan koleksi dan fasilitas sering menjadi permasalahan dalam penyelenggaraan perpustakaan sekolah untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasi penggunanya. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk dapat mengetahui bagaimana sumbangan perpustakaan terhadap kebutuhan informasi siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif korelasional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif yang bertujuan, (1) untuk mengetahui kontribusi perpustakaan terhadap kebutuhan informasi siswa, (2) untuk mengetahui gambaran ketersediaan koleksi di perpustakaan, (3) untuk mengetahui gambaran fasilitas perpustakaan dan (4) untuk mengetahui kebutuhan informasi siswa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMA Negeri 3 Bandung dengan pengambilan sampel dari siswa yang berkunjung ke perpustakaan. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari kuesioner kepada siswa dan wawancara kepada tenaga perpustakaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan, (1) perpustakaan sekolah memberikan sumbangan yang rendah (12,40%) terhadap kebutuhan informasi siswa. Rendahnya kontribusi tersebut disebabkan oleh rendahnya tingkat kunjungan siswa ke perpustakaan, tujuan siswa ke perpustakaan sebagian besar untuk mengisi waktu senggang bukan untuk membaca ataupun meminjam koleksi perpustakaan. Selain itu ketersediaan koleksi dan fasilitas belum memadai untuk memenuhi berbagai kebutuhan informasi siswa, (2) siswa memberikan penilaian yang cukup baik terhadap ketersediaan koleksi di perpustakaan, (3) siswa memberikan penilaian yang cukup baik terhadap fasilitas perpustakaan, dan (4) kebutuhan informasi personal dan kebutuhan informasi terkait peran siswa sebagai pelajar berada dalam kategori yang tinggi sedangkan kebutuhan informasi siswa terkait lingkungan berada dalam kategori cukup tinggi. Library and Information Science. This research is motivated by the role of school libraries in providing the resources needed by students. Availability of collections and facilities are often a problem in the organization of school libraries to meet the information needs of its users. This research was conducted to find out how to contribute libraries to the information needs of students. This study uses descriptive correlational and approach quantitative that aims, (1) to determine the contribution of libraries to the information needs of students, (2) to describe the availability of collections in libraries, (3) to describe of library facilities and (4) to determine the information need of student. The population in this study were all students of SMA Negeri 3 Bandung with sampling of students who visit the library. The instrument used in this study consisted of a questionnaire to students and interview to library staff. The results showed, (1) school libraries contribute to the low (12.40%) of the students' information needs. The low contribution due to the low level of student visits to the library, the goal of most of the students to the library for pleasure not to read or borrow a library collection. In addition to the availability of collection and inadequate facilities to meet the information needs of students, (2) students give a quite good assessment of the availability of the collection at the library, (3) students give a quite good assessment of the library facilities , and (4) the need for personal information and information needs related to the role of students as students are in the high category while the environment-related information needs of students in a category is quite high.
