Abstract
Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kelas IV SDN 3 Cibogo yang berjumlah 22 orang siswa, dengan jumlah siswa laki-laki 9 orang dan jumlah siswa perempuan 13 orang. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya pemahaman konsep operasi hitung pecahan yang diakibatkan karena terbatasnya kemampuan guru untuk menciptakan media pembelajaran yang sesuai dan dapat membantu proses pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media manipulatif dan peningkatan pemahaman konsep operasi hitung pecahan setelah pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan media manipulatif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan model Kemmis & Taggart melalui tiga siklus. Untuk memperoleh data hasil penelitian, dibuat instrumen pembelajaran dan instrumen pengumpul data serta dianalisis dengan cara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pelaksanaan pembelajaran selama penelitian yang secara umum telah berlangsung baik dengan semua langkah pembelajaran terlaksana serta mendemonstrasikan penggunaan media manipulatif merupakan langkah penting. Peningkatan pemahaman konsep operasi hitung pecahan dibuktikan dengan rata-rata indeks gain dari siklus I ke siklus II sebesar 0,1 dengan interpretasi rendah dan rata-rata indeks gain dari siklus II ke siklus III sebesar 0,29 dengan interpretasi rendah. Namun jika dilihat berdasarkan rata-rata skor dari setiap siklus, siklus I sampai siklus III memiliki peningkatan skor dengan rata-rata siklus I sebesar 69,31; siklus II sebesar 72,54; dan siklus III sebesar 80,90. Diharapkan guru dapat menggunakan media manipulatif dalam pembelajaran matematika dan mendemonstrasikan langkah-langkah penggunaannya serta semua kegiatan pembelajaran dapat dilaksanakan sehingga dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep operasi hitung pecahan. Kata kunci: Media Manipulatif, Pemahaman Konsep, Operasi Hitung Pecahan This study is implemented in the fourth graders of SDN 3 Cibogo totaling 22 students, with the amount of male students are 9 people and the amount of female students are 13 people. The background of the study is low in understanding the concept of fractional arithmetic operational caused by the teachers’ limited ability to create the appropriate learning media that can assist learning process. The aim of this study is to describe how learning implementation works by using manipulative media and the increasing understanding of the concept of fractional arithmetic operational after studying mathematics by using manipulative media. Methodology used in this study is Classroom Action Research by using Kemmis and Taggart model through three cycles. To obtain the result of the study, learning instrument and data collection instrument are made, and also analyzed by qualitative and quantitative ways. The result of the study is learning implementation during the study which generally has been going well with all learning steps are done and demonstrating the use of manipulative media are the important steps. The increasing of the understanding of the concept fractional arithmetic operational is proven by the average of gain index from cycle I to cycle II in the amount of 0.1 with low interpretation and the average of gain index from cycle II to cycle III in the amount of 0.29 with low interpretation. However, if it is seen based on score average from each cycle, cycle I until cycle III have score increasing with the average of cycle I in the amount of 69.31; cycle II in the amount of 72.54; and cycle III in the amount of 80.90. It is expected that teachers can use manipulative media in learning mathematics and demonstrating the steps to use it and all of learning activity can be implemented so that it can increase the understanding of the concept of fractional arithmetic operational.
