Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana gambaran self-esteem, alasan, dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi self-esteem wanita dewasa muda yang pernah melakukan hubungan seksual pra-nikah. Subjek penelitian adalah dua orang mahasiswi UPI yang dipilih dengan metode purposive, pernah melakukan hubungan seksual pra-nikah serial monogamist berusia 20-40 tahun. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik wawancara mendalam dengan bantuan pedoman wawancara semi terstruktur dan divalidasi dengan member check terhadap dokumen subjek. Hasil penelitian menunjukan kedua subjek baik yang masih aktif berhubungan seksual pra-nikah maupun yang sudah berhenti melakukan hubungan seksual pra-nikah mengalami self-esteem rendah disebabkan mereka memiliki kekhawatiran pengalamannya diketahui oleh lingkungan sosialnya, kedua subjek menganut nilai normatif mengenai keperawanan cukup tinggi meskipun masing-masing subjek memiliki perbedaaan dalam menempatkan pengalaman ini baik pandangan masa depan maupun cara mereka merespon devaluasi yang terjadi terhadap dirinya sendiri. Sumber self-esteem yang dominan yaitu mereka memiliki kebutuhan afeksi yang cukup tinggi dari orang-orang terdekat (siginificant others) terutama dari pacar yang membuat mereka merasa berharga sebagai individu atau tidak. Orang tua sebaiknya tetap memperhatikan anaknya meskipun mereka telah memasuki usia dewasa muda yang merupakan salah satu masa krisis dalam perkembangan. Peneliti selanjutnya diharapkan meneliti dengan tema yang sama dilakukan terhadap pasangan pelaku yang pernah melakukan hubungan seksual pra-nikah sehingga dapat gambaran yang lebih luas terutama dari sisi gender. This study aims to determine how is the self-esteem, reasons, and the factors that affect the self-esteem of young adult women who had sexual intercourse before marriage. The subjects were two female students UPI selected using purposive, having had sexual intercourse before marriage 20-40 year-old serial monogamist. Data were collected by in-depth interview technique with the help of semi-structured interview guide and validated with member check on the subject documents. The results showed that both active subjects in the pre-marital sexual intercourse or who have stopped having pre-marital sexual experience low self-esteem because they have the experience concerns known to the social environment, both subjects embrace the normative value high enough though their virginity the subjects had a difference in putting this experience better view of the future and how they respond to the devaluation that occurred to herself. Sources of self-esteem that they have a need that is dominant high enough affection from the people closest (siginificant others) mainly from boyfriend who make them feel valued as an individual or not. Parents should continue to pay attention to their children even though they have entered young adulthood, which is one of the crisis in development. Further research is expected examined with the same theme carried out against the perpetrators couple had sexual intercourse before marriage so as to the broader picture, especially in terms of gender.
