    Abstract

    Pendakian gunungapi merupakan bentuk wisata minat khusus yang memiliki daya tarik tinggi, namun juga mengandung potensi risiko kebencanaan yang signifikan. Persepsi risiko yang dimiliki wisatawan terhadap bahaya gunungapi dapat memengaruhi keputusan serta motivasi mereka dalam melakukan aktivitas pendakian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh persepsi risiko terhadap motivasi wisatawan pendaki gunung di Indonesia. Variabel independen dalam penelitian ini mencakup lima dimensi persepsi risiko, yaitu: pengetahuan tentang bahaya gunungapi, persepsi terhadap ancaman, kesiapsiagaan dan mitigasi, persepsi risiko pribadi, serta kepatuhan terhadap arahan dan evakuasi. Sementara itu, variabel dependen berupa motivasi wisatawan diukur melalui dua dimensi utama: motivasi kognitif dan motivasi afektif. Data diperoleh dari 316 responden melalui penyebaran kuesioner terstruktur secara daring. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan metode Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak semua dimensi persepsi risiko mengurangi motivasi wisatawan. Pengetahuan bahaya gunungapi, kesiapsiagaan dan mitigasi, serta kepatuhan terhadap arahan terbukti berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap motivasi kognitif maupun afektif. Sebaliknya, persepsi ancaman dan persepsi risiko pribadi tidak menunjukkan pengaruh signifikan. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa risiko gunungapi bukanlah faktor penghambat, tetapi dapat meningkatkan rasa ingin tahu dan keterlibatan wisatawan jika dipahami dan dikelola dengan baik. Implikasi dari penelitian ini menyarankan pentingnya penguatan komunikasi risiko dan edukasi kebencanaan di destinasi wisata gunungapi untuk meningkatkan keselamatan sekaligus kepuasan pengunjung. Volcanic mountain hiking represents a form of special interest tourism that offers strong appeal yet also involves significant disaster risks. Tourists’ risk perceptions of volcanic hazards can influence their decisions and motivations to engage in hiking activities. This study aims to analyze the influence of risk perception on the motivation of volcanic hikers in Indonesia. The independent variables include five dimensions of risk perception: knowledge of volcanic hazards, perception of threats, preparedness and mitigation, personal risk perception, and compliance with guidance and evacuation. Meanwhile, the dependent variables consist of two main dimensions of tourist motivation: cognitive and affective motivation. Data were collected from 316 respondents through an online structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The findings reveal that not all dimensions of risk perception negatively affect tourist motivation. On the contrary, knowledge, preparedness, and compliance dimensions show positive and significant effects on both cognitive and affective motivation. These results suggest that volcanic risk is not merely a deterrent factor but can instead foster curiosity and engagement when properly understood and managed. The study implies the importance of strengthening risk communication and disaster education in volcanic tourism destinations to enhance both visitor safety and satisfaction.
