    Abstract

    Unsur multimodal diperlukan dalam pemahaman terhadap pesan budaya di buku teks bahasa asing. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui peran unsur multimodal dalam penyampaian pesan budaya dan penggambaran budaya dalam setiap moda di buku teks. Teori yang digunakan yaitu analisis wacana multimodal. Data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini berupa unsur visual dan verbal pada bagian “Selayang Pandang Indonesia” di buku teks New The 바른 인도네시아어 STEP 1 dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Analisis data menggunakan Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) oleh Halliday untuk data visual, Theme and Rheme oleh Halliday untuk data verbal, dan Visual Grammar oleh Kress dan van Leeuwen untuk melihat intersemiosis diantara kedua moda. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, pesan budaya disampaikan melalui kedua moda yaitu unsur visual dan unsur verbal, tetapi unsur verbal lebih banyak digunakan untuk menyampaikan pesan budaya Indonesia, sedangkan unsur visual digunakan penulis sebagai pendukung isi unsur verbal. Hasil intersemiosis antara kedua unsur multimodal dalam buku teks mencakup representational meaning dengan penggambaran budaya Indonesia dan juga interactive meaning berupa interaksi antara unsur verbal dengan pembaca. Jenis representasi budaya yang muncul berupa perilaku berbudaya dan produk budaya Indonesia. Hasil dari keseluruhan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa unsur multimodal saling berhubungan dalam menyampaikan pesan budaya dan merepresentasikan budaya Indonesia dengan cukup akurat. Multimodal elements are essential for understanding cultural messages in foreign language textbooks. The aim of this study is to examine the role of multimodal elements in conveying cultural messages and depicting culture within each mode in the textbook. The theoretical framework employed is multimodal discourse analysis. The data for this study consist of visual and verbal elements found in the “Selayang Pandang Indonesia” section of the textbook New The 바른 인도네시아어 STEP 1, analyzed using a qualitative method. Data analysis applies Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) by Halliday for visual data, Theme and Rheme by Halliday for verbal data, and Visual Grammar by Kress and van Leeuwen to examine intersemiosis between the two modes. Based on the analysis, cultural messages are conveyed through both modes—visual and verbal—although verbal elements are more frequently employed to deliver messages about Indonesian culture, while visual elements are used by the author to support the content of the verbal elements. The intersemiosis between the two multimodal elements in the textbook encompasses representational meaning, which illustrates Indonesian culture, and interactive meaning, which reflects the interaction between the verbal elements and the reader. The types of cultural representation identified include cultural behaviors and Indonesian cultural products. Overall, the findings indicate that the multimodal elements are interrelated in conveying cultural messages and representing Indonesian culture with a reasonable degree of accuracy. 본 연구는 외국어 교과서에서 문화적 메시지를 이해하기 위해서는 다중양식 요소가 필요하다는 전제에서 출발한다. 인도네시아어 초급 학습자인 한국인의 경우, 인도네시아어를 배우고자 하는 한국인을 위해 특별히 제작된 교재인 New The 바른 인도네시아어 STEP 1을 사용할 수 있다. 교재에 포함된 시각적 요소와 언어적 요소 등 여러 다중양식 요소는 학습자가 한 문화를 이해하는 데 있어 인식을 형성하는 데 영향을 줄 수 있다. 따라서 각 양식에서 문화적 메시지를 전달하고 문화를 묘사하는 데 있어 이러한 다중양식 요소의 역할을 이해할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 질적 연구 방법을 사용하였으며, 시각 자료 분석에는 Halliday의 Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) 이론을, 언어 자료 분석에는 Halliday의 Theme and Rheme 분석을, 두 양식 간 상호의미관계를 분석하기 위해 Kress와 van Leeuwen의 Visual Grammar를 적용하였다. 분석 결과, 언어적 요소가 인도네시아 문화를 묘사하는 데 더 많이 사용되었으며, 시각적 요소는 텍스트 내용을 보조하는 용도로 활용되었다. 교재에 제시된 시각적 요소와 언어적 요소는 서로 연계되어 한국인 학습자에게 비교적 정확한 문화 재현을 제공한다. 교재의 두 다중양식 요소 간 상호의미관계(intersemiosis) 결과는 15개의 representational meaning과 5개의 interactive meaning을 포함한다. 나타난 문화 재현의 유형은 13개의 문화적 행동과 2개의 인도네시아 문화 산물로 구성된다.
