Abstract
Improving Cognitive Ability Students of Operation Integer Type STAD Cooperative Approach. This research is motivated the researcher concern of the low cognitive ability students of SD Negeri Pasanggrahan I fourth of learning mathematics especially in the material of integer operations. This is evident from the number of students 25 people only 40% or 10 students who have achieved mastery on the value of learning mathematic, that means there are 60% or 15 students who still have not reached the value of mastery. The purpose of this study was to determine the planning, implementation, and improvement of cognitive abilities of students in learning mathemathics on integer operations using STAD cooperative learning approach. This form of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) is the study of a social situation with a view to improving the quality of action in it. Based on the results of the study showed that the average value before action is 63.2 then in the first cycle is 70.4, the second cycle increased to 80.0 and the third cycle increased to 85.6. This means that the application of STAD cooperative approach can improve the cognitive abilities of students in learning mathematics. Meningkatkan Kemampuan Kognitif Siswa tentang Operasi Bilangan Bulat melalui Pendekatan Kooperatif Tipe STAD. Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi keprihatinan peneliti terhadap rendahnya kemampuan kognitif siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Pasanggrahan I dalam mencapai ketuntasan belajar matematika khususnya pada materi operasi bilangan bulat. Hal ini terbukti dari jumlah siswa 25 orang ternyata baru 40 % atau 10 orang siswa yang telah mencapai nilai ketuntasan pada pembelajaran matematika, artinya masih terdapat 60 % atau 15 orang siswa yang masih belum mencapai nilai ketuntasan. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan peningkatan kemampuan kognitif siswa pada pembelajaran matematika tentang operasi bilangan bulat dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yaitu kajian tentang situasi sosial dengan maksud untuk meningkatkan kualitas tindakan di dalamnya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai siswa sebelum tindakan adalah 63,2 kemudian pada siklus I adalah 70,4, pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 80,0 dan pada siklus III meningkat lagi menjadi 85,6. Artinya bahwa penerapan pendekatan kooperatif tipe STAD dapat meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika.
