    Abstract

    Didalam dunia pendidikan, penting untuk memperoleh kemampuan berbahasa pada jenjang Pendidikan. Kemampuan berbahasa meliputi membaca, menyimak, berbicara dan menulis. Pada jenjang awal sekolah dasar, sangat penting siswa memiliki keterampilan membaca permulaan. Jika keterampilan membaca rendah, hal ini akan berpengaruh pada kemampuan berpikir dan kreativitas, pada siswa kelas IIC SDN 1 Munjuljaya, Purwakarta, terdapat beberapa siswa yang kemampuan berbahasa dan keterampilan membaca masih kurang. Rendahnya kemampuan berbahasa siswa dipengaruhi oleh lingkungan siswa yang dimana daerah Purwakarta masih dominan menggunakan bahasa sunda di kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dilakukan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa. Keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa meningkat setelah dilaksanakan dua siklus tindakan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kontekstual berbantuan media Educaplay. pada siklus I persentase keberhasilan sebesar 59,25% dan siklus II sebesar 85,18%. ----- In the world of education, it is essential to develop language skills at the educational level. Language skills include reading, listening, speaking, and writing. In early elementary school, students need to have beginning reading skills. If reading skills are low, this will affect thinking ability and creativity, Also found in students of class IIC SDN 1 Munjuljaya, Purwakarta. There are several students whose language abilities and reading skills are still lacking. The low language ability of students is influenced by the students' environment where the Purwakarta area still predominantly uses the Sundanese language in daily life. Classroom Action Research was conducted to improve students' beginning reading skills. Students' beginning reading skills improved after two action cycles were implemented using a contextual learning model assisted by Educaplay media. In cycle I, the success percentage was 59.25%, and in cycle II, it was 85.18%.
