    Abstract

    Kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan keterampilan esensial yang harus dimiliki siswa untuk menghadapi tantangan abad ke-21 agar menjadi pembelajar aktif yang mampu menghubungkan pengetahuan dengan situasi nyata. Penelitian terdahulu dan temuan awal menunjukkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sekolah dasar masih tergolong rendah karena pembelajaran yang bersifat teacher-centered dan belum menggunakan media digital. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, peneliti menerapkan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) berbantuan media Canva yang mengaitkan materi pelajaran dengan kehidupan nyata siswa dan menyajikan materi secara menarik. Tujuan penelitian ini mengetahui pengaruh model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) berbantuan media Canva terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis IPS siswa dan membandingkannya dengan model kooperatif tipe Group Investigation (GI) berbantuan media Canva. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain quasi eksperimen non-equivalent control group design pada pembelajaran IPAS materi kegiatan jual beli. Kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa diukur berdasarkan lima indikator menurut Ennis. Hasil menunjukkan skor rata-rata kelas eksperimen meningkat dari 44,60 menjadi 76,20 dengan N-Gain 0,67 (cukup efektif), sedangkan kelas kontrol meningkat dari 47,40 menjadi 66,20 dengan N-Gain 0,47 (kurang efektif). Terdapat pengaruh sebesar 46,7%, sehingga model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) berbantuan media Canva terbukti lebih baik dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sekolah dasar. ----- Critical thinking skills are essential competencies that students must possess to face the challenges of the 21st century and become active learners capable of connecting knowledge with real-life situations. Previous studies and preliminary findings indicate that elementary students’ critical thinking skills remain low due to teacher-centered learning approaches and the limited use of digital media. To address this issue, the researcher applied the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model assisted by Canva media, which connects lesson content to students’ real-life experiences and presents the material in an engaging manner. This study aims to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model assisted by Canva media on improving students’ critical thinking skills in social studies and to compare it with the cooperative learning model of the Group Investigation (GI) type, also assisted by Canva media. The research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group design, focusing on the IPAS subject matter of buying and selling activities. Students’ critical thinking skills were measured based on five indicators proposed by Ennis. The results showed that the experimental class average score increased from 44.60 to 76.20 with an N-Gain of 0,67 (moderately effective), while the control class increased from 47.40 to 66.20 with an N-Gain of 0,47 (less effective). The influence was found to be 46.7%, indicating that the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model assisted by Canva media is more effective in enhancing elementary school students’ critical thinking skills.
