Abstract

Menyimak merupakan salah satu keterampilan yang harus dikuasai siswa dalam pembelajaran bahasa. Adapun menyimak berita, laporan, drama, dan novel merupakan beberapa kompetensi dasar mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia terdapat dalam kurikulum kelas VIII SMP. Dengan demikian, siswa harus dapat mencapai nilai KKM yang ditetapkan sekolah. Berdasarkan angket yang dibagikan pada Seminar Bulan Bahasa, nilai KKM untuk pembelajaran menyimak setiap sekolah berbeda. Rentang nilai adalah 72-78. Adapun hampir seluruh sekolah menetapkan nilai KKM ialah 75 untuk pembelajaran menyimak. Berdasarkan hasil angket yang dibagikan, 58,54% guru menyatakan nilai siswa masih belum mencapai KKM untuk kompetensi menyimak. Selain itu, belum ada alat evaluasi menyimak yang teruji validitas dan reliabilitasnya bahkan sebanyak 33% sekolah belum pernah memberikan tes menyimak bahasa Indonesia untuk kelas VIII SMP. Dengan demikian, peneliti merancang sebuah alat evaluasi yang dapat membantu siswa maupun guru dalam tes menyimak di kelas VIII SMP. Alat evaluasi tersebut telah divalidasi oleh pakar dan tes sebelum diujicobakan pada tahap I dan II. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis membahas mengenai profil alat evaluasi menyimak saat ini, desain alat evaluasi yang dikembangkan, pengembangan alat evaluasi menyimak, dan implementasi dari alat evaluasi menyimak yang dikembangkan pada siswa kelas VIII di SMP Kabupaten Sumedang. Metode dan desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah penelitian pengembangan menggunakan Model Borg dan Gall. Peneliti menggunakan 1 kelas dari sekolah di luar populasi untuk melakukan uji soal, beberapa kelas dari 3 sekolah sampel untuk uji terbatas, dan sejumlah kelas dari 6 sekolah sampel untuk uji luas. Populasi penelitian merupakan seluruh siswa kelas VIII yang berada di Kabupaten Sumedang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 91,11% siswa lulus kompetensi menyimak. Selain itu, melalui perhitungan uji nonparamtrik Mann-Whitney diperoleh hasil bahwa tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara siswa dari berbagai kelompok klaster. Respons siswa dan guru pun positif terhadap alat evaluasi ini. Sebagai contoh, siswa dapat mendengar lebih jelas dan fokus. Semantara itu, guru dapat menghemat energi dan waktu baik dalam hal pembacaan bahan simakan maupun pemeriksaan hasil nilai siswa dalam kompetensi menyimak. As for listening to news, reports, plays, and novels are some basic competences in Indonesian subject included in the curriculum of the second grade of junior high school. Thus, the students should be able to pass the passing standard assigned by the school. Based on the questionnaire distributed in Language Month Seminar, the listening competence passing standard of each school is different. The range is from 72 to78. Though almost all schools set the passing standard in 75 for listening. Based on the results of questionnaires distributed, 58.54% of the teachers stated that the students still had not passed the listening competence passing standard. Based on the explanation above, the researcher designed an evaluation tool that could help students and teachers in listening test in the second grade of junior high school. The evaluation tool has been validated by experts and tests before tested in phase I and II. In this research, the researcher discusses the current listening evaluation tool profile, the design of the evaluation tools developed, the development of the listening evaluation tool, and the implementation of the listening evaluation tool developed in the second grade of junior high school in Sumedang. The method and design used in this research was the research and development using Borg Gall’s Model. The researcher employed one class of a school outside the population to verify the questions tested, some classes from 3 sample schools for the limited test, and some classes from 6 sample schools for extensive test. The population of the research was all of the second graders of junior high school in Sumedang. The result of the research showed that 91.11% passed the listening competence standard. In addition, through the Mann-Whitney nonparamtrik test, it could be seen that there was no significant difference between students from different clusters. The students and the teachers also responded positively towards this evaluation tool. For example, the students could listen to the tape clearly and be more focus. Besides, the teachers could save both energy and time in reading the test materials and examining the results of the students' grades in listening competence.
