Abstract
This research describes about the 5th grade of SDN Situjaya student’s ability of mathematical connections in kite material. This research was caused by the results of student’s learning about math connections in kite materials of 5th grade student’s of SDN Situjaya is low. So the researcher applied the theory of Van Hiele based learning to improve student’s mathematical connections in the kite material. It is appropriate with the guidance of the basic mathematical ability with should be possessedby any person, so the theory of Van Hiele based learning could be used. Throught pre-experimental research wich was conducted in SDN Situjaya is expected to obtain concrete evidence that the Van Hiele theory-based learning can improve student’smathematics connections ability. The statement of problem in this research is how to improve student’s mathematical connection tn the kite material through the Van Hiele theory based learning. While the goal of this research is to know the ability of student’s mathematical connections in the material through Van Hiele learning Theory. Based on hypothesis test result is revealed that the value of asymp. Sig (2-tailed) on the wilcoxon test was . 000. Therefore 0.000 < 0.05 Ha is accepted. so did hypothesis test with n-gain test. If the analysis result of the students’ data are goined and average score gain and it 0.3 the Ha is rejected and H0 is accepted. Therefore the value of n-gain in this research was 0.67, and note that the 0.67and > 0.3. then from those result it can be concluded that there is an improving in ability of student’s mathematical connections in the kite material through the Van Hiele based learning theory. In this case means that Ha is accepted. Keyword: Mathematical Connections, kite, The Van Hiele Theory Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa kelas V SDN Situjaya pada materi layang-layang. Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh hasil belajar siswa mengenai koneksi matematika pada materi layang-layang di kelas V SDN Situjayayang rendah. Sehingga peneliti menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis teori Van Hiele untuk meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa pada materi layang-layang. Teori Van Hiele ini dikemukakan oleh Pierre M. Van Hiele beserta istri. Menurut Van Hiele ada beberapa level dalam belajar Geometri, yaitu: Level 1 (visualization), level 2 (analysis), Level 3 (Abstraction), Level 3 (deduction), Level 4 (Rigor). Hal tersebut sejalan dengan tuntunan kemampuan dasar matematika yang harus dimiliki oleh setiap orang, sehingga pembelajaran berbasis teori Van Hiele berpeluang digunakan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pre-eksperimen di SD Negeri Situjaya. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa pada materi layang-layang melalui pembelajaran berbasis teori Van Hiele. Tujuan penelitiannya adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa pada materi laying-layang melalui pembelajaran berbasis teori Van Hiele. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan tehnik pengumpulan data berupa tes. Sumber data adalah siswa kelas V SDN Situjaya, kecamatan Culamega kabupaten Tasikmalaya. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis diketahui bahwa nilai Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) pada uji Wilcoxon adalah .000. oleh karena 0,000 < 0,05 maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Begitu juga uji hipotesis dengan uji n-gain. Jika pada hasil analisis data siswa diperoleh rata-rata skor gain > 0, dan rata-rata skor n-gain > 0,3 maka Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Sedangkan jika pada hasil analisis diperoleh rata-rata skor gain < 0, dan rata- rata skor n-gain < 0,3 maka Ha ditolak dan H0 diterima. Oleh karena nilai N-gain dalam penelitian ini adalah 0.67, dan 0.67 > 0.3. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa pada materi layang-layang melalui pembelajaran berbasis teori Van Hiele. Dalam hal ini berarti Ha diterima.
