Abstract

The background of this research is education problems that urgently need reform effort thinking how to educate children. Therefore, researchers peer into the mind of Al-Gazali and Abdullah Na I Ulwan. It is considered that the two figures Islam is very influential in the world of education. The purpose of this study was to obtain synthesis in parenting issues between the two figures are different backgrounds. That is understanding background and the lives of both, would be a new thing if the researchers were able to uncover the goodness of the ideas generated by the two figure as a reference in educating children in the present. In this study, the writer used descriptive analytic study, by describing the thinking of Al-Gazali and Abdullah Na I Ulwan about the children education in Islam the form of analytical purposes, methods, and responsibilities of parents in educating children. Data collection techniques are used in this research is the literature study (library research). The education purpose according to Abdullah Al-Gazali and Nashih Ulwan is essential that Muslims formed closer to the Allah (taqarrubila Allah) and grown in perfect Islam temperament and sublime social manners, balanced human form, able to assume responsibility, independent, able to control the passions, and achieve happiness in the world and the life hereafter. Then the methods are used to educate children is exemplary methods, advice, habit, amar makruf nahi munkar, attention or supervision, games, gift-giving, forgiveness and punishment. Parental education responsibilities include education of faith, intellect, worship, moral funds which have unity and can not be separated. Based on the above, Al-Gazali and Abdullah Na I Ulwan has shared his thinking to improve the quality of education. Implications for Islamic education both theoretically and practically that all parents and educators should understand about the Islamic concept of child education. Keywords: Children Education, synthesis, description of analytical Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masalah pendidikan yang sangat membutuhkan upaya pembaharuan pemikiran cara mendidik anak. Oleh karena itu, peneliti menelaah pemikiran Al-Gazālī dan Abdullāh Nāṣiḥ ‘Ulwān. Hal ini, dipertimbangkan pada dasarnya kedua tokoh Islām tersebut sangat berpengaruh besar dalam dunia pendidikan. Tujuan penelitian ini, untuk mendapatkan sintesis dalam permasalahan mendidik anak antara kedua tokoh yang berbeda latar belakang tersebut. Baik latar belakang pemahaman dan kehidupan keduanya, tentu menjadi hal yang baru jika kita mampu mengungkap kebaikan dari pemikiran yang dihasilkan oleh kedua tokoh tersebut sebagai acuan dalam mendidik anak di masa kini. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif analitik, dengan cara mendeskripsikan tentang pemikiran Al-Gazālī dan ‘Abdullāh Nāṣiḥ ‘Ulwān tentang pendidikan anak dalam Islām berupa analisis tujuan, metode, maupun tanggung jawab orang tua dalam mendidik anak. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah studi kepustakaan (library research). Tujuan pendidikan menurut Al-Gazali dan Abdullah Nashih Ulwan ialah membentuk muslim hakiki yang mendekatkan diri kepada Allāh (taqarrub ila Allāh), tumbuh dalam perangai Islāmi yang sempurna dan adab sosial yang luhur, membentuk manusia yang seimbang, mampu memikul tanggung jawab, mandiri, mampu mengendalikan hawa nafsu, serta mencapai kebahagiaan hidup di dunia dan akhirat. Kemudian metode yang digunakan untuk mendidik anak ialah metode keteladanan, nasihat, kebiasaan, amar ma’ruf nahi munkar, perhatian atau pengawasan, permainan, pemberian hadiah, pengampunan, dan hukuman. Tanggung jawab pendidikan orang tua meliputi pendidikan iman, akal, ibadah, dan akhlak yang memiliki kesatuan dan tidak dapat dipisahkan. Bertolak dari hal di atas, kedua tokoh ini, Al-Gazālī dan Abdullāh Nāṣiḥ ‘Ulwān telah berbagi pemikirannya untuk memperbaiki kualitas pendidikan. Implikasi terhadap pendidikan Islam baik secara teoritis maupun praktis bahwa setiap orang tua dan pendidik semestinya memahami tentang konsep pendidikan anak secara Islami.
