Abstract

Migrasi penduduk terjadi karena perbedaan antara daerah asal dan
daerah tujuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan sebab-sebab
terjadinya migrasi dan adaptasi orang Banjar di Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir
Propinsi Riau.
Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara dan
dokumentasi. Wawancara dilakukan terhadap sejumlah informan yang
mengetahui tentang masalah penelitian. Kaj ian dokumentasi dilakukan
terhadap sumber-sumber primer maupun sekunder.
Temuan penelitian menunjukkan; (1) migrasi yang dilakukan orang
Banjar tidak terlepas dari tekanan politik dan tekanan ekonomi yang mereka
alami pada waktu itu; (2) dipilihnya daerah Indragiri Hilir sebagai daerah
tujuan migrasi berdasarkan pertimbangan kesamaan geografis dan peluang
kerja untuk meningkatkan perekonomian; (3) adaptasi dan interaksi sosial
orang Banjar memegang peranan dalarn menjalin kerjasarna dengan berba~aj
etnis; (4) modal sosial dalam bentuk jaringan sosial memegang peranan
penting dalam mempertahankan identitas etnis Banjar di daerah tujuan.
The population migration usually occurs because of the differenciate
condition between the origin place and the destination place. This research
aims to explore the reasons for the occurrence of Banjarese people's
migration and adaptation.
To collect the data in this research, the researcher used the techniques
of observation, interview, and documentation. The subjects of interview are
the people who understand about the research's problem. The documentation
review conducted on primary and secondary sources.
The results of this research are; (1) the migration of Banjarese People
is done because of the economy crisis and policy pressure at that time; (2)
Indragiri Hilir is choosen as the migration place because it has the same
geographic land with their place, thus it is easy for them to work there; (3)
the adaptation and the social interaction of Banjarese People hold important
role in managing and cooperating with other ethnics in Indragiri Hilir; ( 4) the
social capital, especially the social networking holds important role in
maintaining the Banjarese identity ethnic in Shoreline.
