Abstract
This study proposed a topic that related to traditional sports/games tourism that potentially can be the tourism appeal of Siak Regency, with two main key issues to identify what are traditional sports/games that possess the potential to be developed as tourism appeal and what are the driving and restraining factors in the development process of traditional sports/games tourism in Siak Regency. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach to answer the problems that are the main focus of research, data collected through interviews with selected resources, along with field observation and documentations study related to the research focus. The result of this study reveals there are some of sports/games that have the potential to be developed for example is Layang-layang, Sepak Raga, Pecah Piring, Silat Tarekat and Bakiak. Although there are some previous sports/games that have been developed as tourism appeal like Gasing, Dayung Sampan and Pacuan Kuda. Then in order to develop a traditional sports/games tourism potential cannot be separated from the driving and restraining factors in achieving a good and sustainable sports tourism ecosystem.In the development of traditional sports/games all related aspects have an important role whether it's the government the private sector, or the community.So that later it can have a good impact on Siak Regency. This research is a form of community participation in academic matters which is expected to contribute to the development of tourism, especially sports tourism in Siak Regency.
