Abstract

Strategi emotion-focused coping terhadap terpaan K-drama genre romance-comedy menjadi fokus utama dalam penelitian ini. Mengacu pada Hasil Riset Kesehatan Dasar hingga saat ini kesehatan mental masih menjadi permasalahan yang cukup serius baik tingkat global maupun nasional dan belum dapat sepenuhnya teratasi. Martin menyatakan salah satu penyebabnya adalah fenomena krisis emosional yang terjadi saat transisi dari masa remaja menuju dewasa yang dikenal sebagai fase quarter life crisis yang di mana individu pada masa dewasa awal akan merasa bingung saat dihadapkan dengan pilihan-pilihan baru dalam hidup hingga mengalami stres, cemas, dan hampa serta lebih rentang dialami oleh wanita. Salah satu cara untuk mengatasinya adalah menggunakan strategi emotion-focused coping. Menonton serial Korean Drama (K-Drama) menjadi salah satu hal yang menyenangkan dan menjadi pilihan strategi emotion-focused coping untuk meredakan stress atau emosi negatif yang dirasakan khalayak. Khalayak yang dimaksudkan adalah wanita dewasa awal pengguna aplikasi Viu di Pulau Jawa. Maka dengan ini, penelitian ini akan berfokus pada bagaimana emotion-focused coping wanita dewasa awal terhadap aspek-aspek terpaan K-drama yang meliputi selectivity (X1), intentionally (X2), utilitarianism (X4), involvement (X5), dan imperviousness to influence (X6). Landasan dalam melakukan penelitian ini adalah Teori Ketergantungan Media (Media Dependency Theory) oleh Melvin DeFleur dan Sandra Ball-Rokeach mengenai kepentingan media yang memberikan pemenuhan kebutuhan terhadap ketergantungan khalayak terhadap media tersebut. Metodologi penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan studi korelasional dan pengambilan data dengan metode survey terhadap 400 wanita dewasa awal pengguna aplikasi Viu di Pulau Jawa. Penelitian ini menghasilkan temuan bahwa seluruh variabel bebas (X) memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap variabel terikat (Y) yakni terpaan K-drama dan emotion-focused coping. Seluruh variabel bebas (X) mempengaruhi emotion-focused coping sebesar 16.7%. dengan kata lain variabel intentionally, utilitarianism, involvement, dan imperviousness to influence hanya berpengaruh sebesar 16.7% terhadap emotion-focused coping. Sedangkan 83.3% lainnya dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain yang tidak diteliti dalam penelitian ini. Emotion-focused coping strategies against exposure to romance-comedy genre K-dramas are the main focus of this study. Referring to the results of the Basic Health Research, until now mental health is still a serious problem at both the global and national levels and has not been fully resolved. Martin stated that one of the causes is the phenomenon of emotional crisis that occurs during the transition from adolescence to adulthood known as the quarter life crisis phase where individuals in early adulthood will feel confused when faced with new choices in life to experience stress, anxiety, and emptiness and is more commonly experienced by women. One way to overcome this is to use emotion-focused coping strategies. Watching Korean Drama (K-Drama) series becomes one of the fun things and becomes the choice of emotion-focused coping strategies to relieve stress or negative emotions felt by audiences. The intended audience is early adult women who use the Viu app on the island of Java. So with this, this research will focus on how emotion-focused coping of early adult women on aspects of K-drama exposure which include selectivity (X1), intentionally (X2), utilitarianism (X4), involvement (X5), and imperviousness to influence (X6). The foundation for conducting this research is the Media Dependency Theory by Melvin DeFleur and Sandra Ball-Rokeach regarding the importance of media that provides fulfillment of needs for audience dependence on the media. This research methodology uses a quantitative approach with a correlational study and data collection using a survey method of 400 early adult women who use the Viu application on the island of Java. This study found that all independent variables (X) have a significant influence on the dependent variable (Y), namely K-drama exposure and emotion-focused coping. All independent variables (X) affect emotion-focused coping by 16.7%. in other words, the variables intentionally, utilitarianism, involvement, and imperviousness to influence only affect 16.7% of emotion-focused coping. While the other 83.3% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study.
