Abstract
Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran orang tua demokratis terhadap perkembangan kecerdasan emosional anak serta faktor pendukung dan penghambatnya. Metode yang digunakaan dalam penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain penelitian deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis menggunakan model Miles and Huberman diantaranya yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data/penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa orang tua demokratis berperan terhadap perkembangan kecerdasan emosional anak. Anak yang dibesarkan dengan pola asuh demokratis memiliki kecerdasan emosional berupa perilaku anak yang mampu mengenal emosi, mampu menerima emosi, mengelola emosi dan mengontrol emosi. Adapun faktor pendukung dari orang tua terhadap perkembangan kecerdasan emosional anak adalah keluarga, lingkungan, dan profesi orang tua. Adapun faktor penghambat orang tua terhadap perkembangan kecerdasan emosional anak yaitu emosi dari orang tua, lingkungan pertemanan anak, dan keterbatasan orang tua dalam memberikan fasilitas untuk mengembangkan kecerdasan emosional anak. Kata kunci : Anak Usia Dini, Kecerdasan Emosional, Pola asuh Orang Tua ----- This study is to find out how the role of democratic parents on the development of children's emotional intelligence and its supporting and inhibiting factors. The method used in this study is using a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data collected were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model including data reduction, data presentation, and data verification / conclusions. The results showed that democratic parents play a role in the development of children's emotional intelligence. Children raised with democratic parenting have emotional intelligence in the form of children's behavior that is able to recognize emotions, able to accept emotions, manage emotions and control emotions. The supporting factors of parents in developing children's emotional intelligence are family, environment, parental profession, and parents' willingness to access social media whose content is about parenting. In addition, there are also factors inhibiting parents to the development of children's emotional intelligence, namely emotions from parents, children's friendship environment, and parents' limitations in providing facilities to develop children's emotional intelligence, and living environments that lack recreational facilities.
