Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan computational thinking siswa SMP kelas VIII dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematis pada materi pola bilangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan desain penelitian studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah dengan melakukan tes dan wawancara. Adapun analisis data melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Subjek penelitian yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini adalah 3 orang siswa berkemampuan awal matematis tinggi, 3 orang siswa berkemampuan awal matematis sedang, dan 3 orang siswa berkemampuan awal matematis rendah di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan computational thinking siswa dengan kemampuan awal matematis tinggi adalah baik, siswa dengan kemampuan awal matematis sedang adalah cukup baik, dan siswa dengan kemampuan awal matematis sedang adalah kurang baik. Faktor penyebabnya kurangnya kemampuan computational thinking siswa adalah: 1) Kurangnya ketertarikan siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika karena menganggap matematika adalah pelajaran yang sulit dipahami; 2) Kurangnya penguasaan materi prasyarat oleh siswa; 3) Kurangnya keinginan siswa untuk memperdalam materi dan latihan soal selain di sekolah; 4) Kurangnya perhatian siswa terhadap guru yang sedang menjelaskan materi saat kegiatan belajar mengajar sedang berlangsung. Analysis of Computational Thinking Ability of Class VIII Junior High School Students in Solving Mathematical Problems on Number Pattern Material This study aims to describe the computational thinking ability of junior high school students in grade VIII in solving mathematical problems on number pattern material. This research uses qualitative research methods with a case study research design. The data collection technique used was by conducting tests and interviews. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research subjects involved in this study were 3 students with high initial mathematical ability, 3 students with medium initial mathematical ability, and 3 students with low initial mathematical ability in one of the public junior high schools in Bandung City. The results showed that the computational thinking ability of students with high mathematical initial ability was good, students with moderate mathematical initial ability was good enough, and students with moderate mathematical initial ability was not good enough. The factors causing the lack of students' computational thinking ability are: 1) Lack of students' interest in mathematics because they think math is a difficult subject to understand; 2) Lack of mastery of prerequisite material by students; 3) Lack of student desire to deepen the material and practice problems other than at school; 4) Lack of student attention to the teacher who is explaining the material when teaching and learning activities are taking place.
