Abstract

Semua proses pembelajaran didasarkan pada membaca, maka dari itu membaca sangat penting dalam proses pembelajaran. Membaca bukan hanya sekedar melihat bacaan, namun perlunya pemahaman mengenai makna yang terdapat dalam bacaan. Teks biografi merupakan jenis teks nonfiksi yang dipelajari pada tingkat Sekolah Dasar, teks biografi menceritakan kisah perjalanan hidup seseorang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan membaca teks biografi pada siswa kelas V di salah satu Sekolah Dasar di Purwakarta, faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks biografi, serta upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks biografi. Subjek yang digunakan pada penelitian ini melibatkan siswa kelas V yang berjumlah 27 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu tes, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Setelah dianalisis, ditemukan bahwa (1) Pemahaman literal siswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata 88,5 masuk ke dalam kategori baik, pada kemampuan interpretasi memperoleh rata-rata nilai 71,3 masuk ke dalam kategori cukup, pada kemampuan kritis memperoleh rata-rata nilai 61 masuk ke dalam kategori kurang, dan pada kemampuan pemahaman kreatif memperoleh nilai rata-rata 56 masuk ke dalam kategori kurang, (2) Faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks biografi yaitu minat siswa dalam membaca, bahan bacaan, penerapan metode dan media pembelajaran, kondisi fasilitas sekolah, serta pola asuh orang tua, (3) Upaya yang dapat dilakukan yaitu mengembangkan kegiatan literasi, memaksimalkan fasilitas sekolah, menggunakan metode dan media yang tepat, dan menerapkan kebiasaan rutin membaca di rumah. ----- All learning processes are based on reading, therefore reading is very important in the learning process. Reading is not just looking at the reading, but the need for an understanding of the meaning contained in the reading. Biographical text is a type of non-fiction text which is studied at the elementary school level, biographical text tells the story of one's life journey. This study aims to find out how the ability to read biographical texts in fifth grade students in an elementary school in Purwakarta, what factors influence the ability to read biographical texts, as well as efforts that can be made to improve the ability to read and understand biographical texts. The subjects used in this study involved 27 students of class V, totaling 27 students. Data collection techniques used are tests, interviews, and documentation. After being analyzed, it was found that (1) students' literal understanding obtained an average score of 88,5 which was included in the good category, for interpreting abilities, an average value of 71.3 was included in the sufficient category, for critical abilities, the average value was 61 falls into the less category, and creative comprehension abilities get an average score of 56 falls into the less category, (2) Factors that affect the ability to read comprehension of biographical texts are students' interest in reading, reading materials, application of learning methods and media, condition of school facilities, as well as parenting styles of parents, (3) Efforts that can be made are developing literacy activities, maximizing school facilities, using appropriate methods and media, and implementing regular reading habits at home.
