Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan pada fenomena pola asuh ibu terhadap pendidikan dasar anak di Korea Selatan yang sangat kompetitif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penanda dan petanda serta bentuk semiotika dari level realitas, level representasi, dan level ideologi pada tanda visual dan verbal sebagai representasi pola asuh Ibu terhadap pendidikan anak usia sekolah di Korea Selatan. Data penelitian diperoleh dari adegan pilihan pada episode 1 hingga episode 11 dalam drama Korea Green Mothers Club. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan teori semiotika John Fiske yang mengkaji data visual dan verbal dari 35 adegan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya penanda yang diambil dari adegan dan dialog, memunculkan adanya 5 kategori petanda, diantaranya: 19 adegan yang merujuk pada ambisi seorang ibu terhadap pendidikan dan bakat anak; sebanyak 2 adegan yang merujuk pada perbedaan pandangan setiap ibu terhadap pendidikan anak; sebanyak 4 adegan yang merujuk pada kekhawatiran ibu terhadap pendidikan anak; sebanyak 2 adegan yang merujuk pada persaingan antara ibu terhadap prestasi anak; serta sebanyak 8 adegan yang merujuk pada dampak dari ambisi seorang ibu terhadap pendidikan anak. Bentuk representasi yang ditemukan, yaitu ibu yang lebih mengutamakan pendidikan anak, beban ekonomi yang berlebih akibat pendidikan anak, anak dijadikan robot untuk memenuhi ambisi orang tua, serta kurangnya peran ayah terhadap pendidikan anak. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberi pemahaman mengenai unsur semiotika dalam membahas penanda dan petanda yang digunakan untuk merepresentasikan suatu hal dan juga memberi inspirasi bagaimana tayangan drama dapat menggambarkan suatu fenomena yang terjadi di lingkungan masyarakat, terutama pendidikan di Korea Selatan. This study is based on the phenomenon of maternal parenting patterns for highly competitive child primary education in South Korea. The research aims to find out the signifier and signified and semiotic forms of reality level, representation level, and ideology level of visual and verbal signs as representations of Mother's foster pattern for school-age education in South Korea found in the Korean drama Green Mothers Club. Research data were obtained from select scenes from episode 1 to episode 11 in the Korean drama Green Mothers Club. The research method used was qualitative descriptive using John Fiske's semiotic theory that examined visual and verbal data from 35 scenes. The research showed that there were markers drawn from scenes and dialogues, giving rise to five categories of landmarks, among which 19 were in reference to a mother's ambition for education and her child's talent; there were 2 scenes that refer to each mother's differences in views on child education; there are 4 scenes that refer to the mother's concerns about child education; there are 2 scenes that refer to the mother's competition over child achievement; and, as many as, 8 scenes that refer to the impact of a mother's ambition on child education. The form of representation found, such as mothers who prioritize child education, excessive economic stress due to child education, children being made robots to fulfill parental ambitions, and the lack of father's role in children's education. This research is expected to provide insight into the semiotic elements of discussing the signifier and signified used to represent things and also to inspire how drama plays can portray a phenomenon occurring in society, especially education in South Korea.
