Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi permasalahan dalam keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi yang dialami siswa kelas X-1 SMA Laboratorium Percontohan UPI yaitu siswa yang kurang menyukai pembelajaran menulis, kurang bisa mengembangkan ide, kurang mampu dalam mengontruksi gagasan, kurang mampu menuangkan gagasannya ke dalam sebuah tulisan, penguasaan kosa katanya masih minim serta kurang bervariasinya model pembelajaran. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi siswa kelas X-1 SMA Laboratorium Percontohan UPI dengan model The Big6. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan metode PTK dengan desain Kemmis & Mc. Taggart. Perencanaan pembelajaran dilakukan sebanyak 2 kali dalam 2 siklus tindakan dengan merencanakan kegiatan pembelajaran sesuai langkah-langkah model The Big6 serta merencanakan instrumen-instrumen yang akan digunakan dalam penelitian. Pada siklus 1 pembelajaran dilakukan dengan 1 pertemuan, setiap siswa dituntut untuk menerapkan langkah-langkah model The Big6 hingga bisa mengontruksi teks eksposisi. Setelah adanya refleksi siklus 1, pada siklus 2 pembelajaran dilakukan dengan 2 pertemuan dimana pertemuan 1 difokuskan untuk pemahaman terkait penyusunan argumen yang baik, sedangkan pertemuan 2 difokuskan menerapkan langkah-langkah model The Big6 yang kemudian menghasilkan produk suatu tulisan teks eksposisi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya peningkatan keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi di mana pada siklus 1 siswa yang masuk kategori A sebanyak 27,3%, sedangkan pada siklus 2 keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi siswa yang masuk kategori A sebanyak 81,8%. Selain hasil pembelajaran yang baik, respon dari siswa dan juga guru terhadap penelitian yang telah dilakukan ini sangatlah baik. This research is motivated by problems in writing expository text skills experienced by students of class X-1 at the UPI Pilot Laboratory High School, where these problems include the difficulty of developing ideas, determining the topic of the problem, choosing vocabulary, finding the information needed, the difficulty in constructing an argument. or ideas and learning models that are less varied. Therefore, this study aims to improve the writing skills of exposition texts of X-1 class students at UPI Pilot Laboratory High School with The Big6 model. To achieve this goal, this study uses the PTK method with the Kemmis & MC Taggart model. Learning planning is carried out 2 times in 2 action cycles by planning learning activities according to the steps of The Big6 model and planning the instruments to be used in research. In cycle 1 learning was carried out with 1 meeting where each student was required to apply the steps of The Big6 model so that he could construct an exposition text. In cycle 2 learning was carried out with 2 meetings where meeting 1 focused on further explanation and strengthening related to the preparation of good arguments, while in meeting 2 it was focused on implementing the steps of The Big6 model which then produced the product of an exposition text. The results showed that there was an increase in the skills of writing exposition texts where in cycle 1 students who entered category A were 27.3%, while in cycle 2 students' writing skills were included in category A as much as 81.8%. In addition to good learning outcomes, the response from students and also teachers to the research that has been carried out is very good.
