Abstract
ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan teknik color correction dan color grading dalam film pendek indie “Kitiran” dan menganalisis pengaruhnya terhadap peningkatan tampilan visual dan nuansa film. Teknik color correction adalah proses penyesuaian dan koreksi warna pada rekaman video agar gambar tampak seimbang dan realistis, sementara color grading proses lanjutan setelah color correction yang bertujuan untuk menciptakan estetika visual dan nuansa khusus dalam video atau film. Penelitian ini penting karena banyak filmmaker indie yang belum menerapkan teknik ini dalam produksi filmnya menurut beberapa ahli colorist. Peneliti melakukan percobaan dengan mengimplementasikan teknik color correction dan color grading pada film Kitiran. Proses implementasi terbagi kedalam 3 versi yaitu versi primary color correction, versi secondary color correction, dan versi color grading. Proses editing melibatkan modifikasi tampilan visual film melalui koreksi warna dasar dan penyesuaian skema warna. Hasil implementasi dianalisis secara kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan analisis konten. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknik color correction dan color grading memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangan masing-masing dalam meningkatkan secara signifikan look dan mood pada film Kitiran. Perbaikan warna dan penerapan skema warna yang sesuai dengan cerita dan visi artistik film mampu menciptakan atmosfer yang lebih kuat dan memperkuat kesan emosional yang diinginkan. Melalui penyesuaian ini, film Kitiran juga mampu menampilkan identitas visual yang unik dan khas. Penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman yang lebih dalam tentang pentingnya color correction dan color grading dalam menciptakan tampilan yang diinginkan dalam film pendek indie Kitiran. Hasilnya dapat menjadi inspirasi dan acuan bagi filmmaker indie untuk mengoptimalkan teknik ini dalam produksi film mereka. ABSTRACT This research aims to implement color correction and color grading techniques in the indie short film "Kitiran" and analyze their impact on enhancing the visual appearance and mood of the film. Color correction is the process of adjusting and correcting the colors in video footage to achieve a balanced and realistic image, while color grading is an advanced process that follows color correction with the objective of creating specific visual aesthetics and moods in a video or film. This study is essential because many indie filmmakers have not yet applied these techniques in their film productions, as stated by several colorist experts. The researcher conducted experiments by implementing color correction and color grading techniques in the film Kitiran. The implementation process was divided into three versions: primary color correction, secondary color correction, and color grading. The editing process involved modifying the visual appearance of the film through basic color correction and color scheme adjustments. The results of the implementation were analyzed qualitatively and descriptively using a content analysis approach. The research findings indicate that color correction and color grading techniques have their respective advantages and disadvantages in significantly enhancing the look and mood of the film Kitiran. Improvements in color and the application of color schemes that match the story and artistic vision of the film were able to create a stronger atmosphere and reinforce the desired emotional impact. Through these adjustments, Kitiran was also able to present a unique and distinct visual identity. This research provides a deeper understanding of the importance of color correction and color grading in achieving the desired look in the indie short film Kitiran. The results can serve as inspiration and reference for indie filmmakers to optimize these techniques in their film productions.
