    Abstract

    The study, entitled “The Use of Process-Genre Approach to Teaching Writing at Vocational School”, investigates the use of process-genre approach to teaching writing at Indonesian vocational school and students’ responses towards the use of this approach to teaching writing. This study involved 60 students of eleventh grade of a state vocational school in Bandung. Pretest and posttest as well as the questionnaire were utilized to collect the data. The data from pretest and posttest were analyzed by using the t-test and Wilcoxon text as well as text analysis, while the data from questionnaire were analyzed qualitatively. The study finds out that process-genre approach, in some ways, can help students improve their writing skills through the process of writing, the knowledge of text function, and the use of feedbacks as input which are the main focus on this approach. Most of students’ responses also show positive attitude towards the use of this approach. The findings in this study recommend further studies in regards to the use of process-genre approach to teaching writing in Indonesian context, especially in vocational school. In short, the use of process-genre approach to teaching writing can help students improve their writing skills to some extent.
