Abstract
This present study is conducted under the title of Power Exercise and Racial Discrimination in K’tut Tantri’s autobiography Revolt in Paradise. The aim of the study is to investigate the types of power exercise in the text. This study employs descriptive qualitative with textual analysis as the analytical tool, and to analyze the text this study employs the framework of five types of power by French and Raven (1959); legitimate power, coercive power, reward power, referent power, and expert power. The result of the study shows that there are four types of power exercised in the text; legitimate power, coercive power, reward power and referent power. The study has found out that the powers are exercised through the policies, rules and regulations, and indicated that the exercise of power has resulted in racial discrimination against the native
