Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengujicobakan metode Listening in Action dengan media Podcast pada pembelajaran menyimak cerita fantasi di kelas VII. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keterampilan menyimak dalam bahasa Indonesia yang kurang mendapat perhatian oleh guru dan rendahnya kemampuan serta minat siswa dalam menyimak cerita fantasi. Rumusan masalah dan tujuan penelitian ini terarah pada (1) kemampuan menyimak sebelum perlakuan, (2) kemampuan menyimak setelah perlakuan, (3) perbedaan kemampuan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah eksperimen kuasi dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap kelas VII SMP Negeri 19 Bandung dengan sampel penelitian VII D sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VII C sebagai kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai tes awal kelas eksperimen adalah 58,4, sedangkan rata-rata nilai tes awal kelas kontrol adalah 52,8. Rata-rata nilai tes akhir kelas eksperimen berdasarkan perhitungan yaitu 86,4, sedangkan rata-rata nilai tes akhir kelas kontrol sejumlah 76. Berdasarkan hasil uji Independent Sample T-test diketahui nilai signifikansi sejumlah 0,003 yang mana lebih kecil dari 0,05. Untuk t hitung diketahui sebesar 3,095, sedangkan t tabel dengan taraf signifikansi 95% dan derajat kebebasan (df) sebesar 48 adalah 1,6772. t hitung lebih dari t tabel (3,095 ≥ 1,6772). Dengan demikian, hipotesis nol pada penelitian ini ditolak, sedangkan hipotesis alternatif diterima yaitu terdapat perbedaan kemampuan menyimak cerita fantasi antara kelas eksperimen setelah diterapkannya metode Listening in Action dengan media Podcast dan kelas kontrol setelah diterapkannya metode konvensional. This study aims to test the Listening in Action method with Podcast media in learning to listen to fantasy stories in class VII. This research was motivated by listening skills in Indonesian which received less attention from the teacher and the low ability and interest of students in listening to fantasy stories. The formulation of the problem and the purpose of this study are directed at (1) listening skilss before treatment, (2) listening skills after treatment, (3) differences in ability. The research method used in this study was a quasi-experimental research design with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. This research was conducted on class VII SMP Negeri 19 Bandung with research samples VII D as the experimental class and VII C as the control class. The results of the research based on calculations show that the average initial test score of the experimental class is 58,4, while the average initial test value of the control class is 52,8. The average final test score for the experimental class based on calculations was 86,4, while the average final test score for the control class was 76. Based on the results of the Independent Sample T-test it is known that the significance value is 0,003 which is smaller than 0,05. The t count is known to be 3,095, while the t tabel with a significance level of 95% and degress of freedom (df) of 48 is 1,6772. t count more than t tabel (3,095 ≥ 1,6772). Therefore, Ho in this study was rejected, while Ha was accepted, namely that there were differences in the ability to listen to fantasy stories between the experimental class after the Listening in Action method was implemented with Podcast media and the class after the conventional method was applied.
