Abstract

Kemampuan membaca pemahaman perlu dikuasai oleh siswa di samping kemampuan menulis, berhitung dan kemampuan esensial lainnya. Dengan menguasai kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa dapat lebih mudah menerima berbagai pengetahuan yang disampaikan melalui tulisan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks narasi, faktor penyebab kesulitan membaca pemahaman teks narasi, dan solusi yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi penyebab kesulitan kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks narasi pada siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 3 Nagritengah. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena perlu adanya analisis lebih mendalam terkait kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks narasi pada siswa kelas IV. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode yaitu penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengambilan data berupa tes, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 3 Nagritengah memiliki kemampuan membaca pemahaman literal yang baik, namun kurang dalam kemampuan pemahaman interpretatifnya. Tingkat pemahaman kritis dan kreatif berada di cukup. Faktor penyebab kesulitan membaca pemahaman teks narasi siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 3 Nagritengah yaitu adanya kurangnya minat siswa dalam membaca, pengaruh lingkungan tidak kondusif, fasilitas sekolah belum maksimal, metode dan media pembelajaran kurang bervariasi, serta pembiasaan oleh orang tua kurang maksimal. Upaya-upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi hambatan keterampilan membaca pemahaman teks narasi siswa yaitu guru dapat menjadi teladan bagi siswa dalam hal kebiasaan membaca, menerapkan metode serta media yang tepat, memberikan tugas untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks narasi seperti merangkum teks narasi, menambah kegiatan membaca sebelum pembelajaran dimulai, sekolah mendirikan perpustakaan sebagai upaya memaksimalkan fasilitas sekolah, serta orang tua harus lebih memerhatikan proses belajar siswa ketika di rumah. Kata Kunci: membaca pemahaman, teks narasi, siswa ----- Reading comprehension skills need to be mastered by students in addition to writing, arithmetic, and other essential abilities. By mastering reading comprehension skills, students can more easily accept various types of knowledge conveyed through writing. This study aims to determine the ability to read and comprehend narrative texts, factors that cause difficulties in reading and comprehending narrative texts, and solutions that can be done to overcome the causes of difficulties in reading and comprehending narrative texts in fourth grade students of SD Negeri 3 Nagritengah. This research was conducted because there was a need for a more in-depth analysis related to the ability to read and comprehend narrative texts in grade IV students. This research uses a method called descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques in the form of tests, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that fourth grade students at SD Negeri 3 Nagritengah had good literal reading comprehension skills but lacked interpretative comprehension abilities. The level of critical and creative understanding is moderate. Factors causing difficulty in reading comprehension of narrative texts for class IV SD Negeri 3 Nagritengah are the lack of interest in reading, the influence of the environment being not conducive, the school facilities being not maximal, the learning methods and media being less varied, and the habituation of parents being not optimal. Efforts that can be made to overcome barriers to students' reading comprehension of narrative texts include: the teacher can be a role model for students in terms of reading habits; applying appropriate methods and media; assigning tasks to improve reading comprehension of narrative texts, such as summarizing narrative texts; adding activities that involve reading before learning begins; schools establish libraries as an effort to maximize school facilities; and parents must pay more attention to students' learning processes when at home.
