Abstract
Adanya gangguan komunikasi pada anak autis menyebabkan tidak berkembangnya kemampuan anak terutama interaksi sosial, perilaku, dan komunikasi, karena anak menjadi terbatas berhubungan dengan orang sekitarnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui karakteristk anak autis yang mengalami hambatan komunikasi, peran, kesulitan, dan solusi orang tua dalam mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi anak autis usia 5-7 tahun. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah dua orang yaitu ibu yang memiliki anak autis usia 5-7 tahun dan objek penelitian yang berjumlah dua orang anak autis usia 5-7 tahun. Lokasi penelitian di Kota Cimahi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara semiterstruktur dan observasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa peran orang tua dalam mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi anak autis adalah anak mengikuti terapi wicara dan terapi okupasi di rumah sakit secara rutin setiap minggunya, memasukkan anak ke sekolah, membacakan buku cerita bergambar, jalanjalan keluar rumah, memberi arahan kepada anak untuk fokus menatap, mencari bakat anak untuk dikembangkan, dan mencari informasi tentang autis melalui teman, artikel, dan sosial media. Kesulitan orang tua adalah mencari TK yang dapat mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi anak autis, kurangnya inisiatif anak untuk berkomunikasi, dan anak yang sulit mengikuti instruksi. Solusi orang tua adalah memberi pembelajaran tambahan di rumah, rajin bertanya dan berbicara kepada anak, memberikan instruksi dengan gestur, ekspresi, dan bahasa yang jelas, memperbanyak sumber pengetahuan melalui buku dan sosial media. Kata Kunci: Peran Orang Tua, Kemampuan Komunikasi, Autis, Anak Usia Dini The existence of communication disorders in autistic children causes the development of children's abilities, especially social interaction, behavior, and communication, because children are limited in dealing with people around them. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of autistic children who experience communication barriers, roles, difficulties, and solutions for parents in developing communication skills for autistic children aged 5-7 years. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. The participants in this study amounted to two people, namely mothers who have autistic children aged 5-7 years and the object of research, which amounted to two autistic children aged 5-7 years. The research location is in Cimahi City. Data collection techniques were carried out through semi-structured interviews and observation. The data was analyzed using thematic analysis. The results showed that the role of parents in developing communication skills for autistic children was that children took speech therapy and occupational therapy at the hospital regularly every week; sending children to school; reading picture books; going out of the house; giving directions to children to focus on staring; looking for children's talents to be developed; and looking for information about autism through friends, articles, and social media. Parents' difficulties are finding kindergartens that can develop communication skills for autistic children, children's lack of initiative to communicate, and children who have difficulty following instructions. The solution for parents is to provide additional learning at home by diligently asking and talking to children, giving instructions with clear gestures, expressions, and language, and multiplying sources of knowledge through books and social media.
