Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hambatan belajar apa saja yang dialami oleh siswa SMP dalam mempelajari persamaan linear satu variabel serta mengetahui lebih dalam mengenai faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan hambatan belajar tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi yang melibatkan siswa kelas VIII. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan triangulasi, meliputi tes tertulis, wawancara, dan analisis buku paket yang digunakan. Hasil penelitian teridentifikasi empat jenis hambatan belajar, yaitu hambatan belajar ontogenik psikologis, hambatan belajar ontogenik conceptual, hambatan belajar didaktik, dan hambatan belajar epistemologis. Faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan hambatan belajar ontogenik psikologis di antaranya: 1) siswa menganggap matematika sulit; 2) siswa kurang suka dengan pelajaran matematika; 3) siswa hanya mengerjakan soal yang akan dikumpulkan; 4) banyak partisipan yang menyatakan lupa dengan materi persamaan linear satu variabel; 5) lingkungan kelas yang kurang nyaman; dan 6) lingkungan rumah yang kurang mendukung partisipan untuk giat belajar. Faktor-faktor tersebut perlu diperhatikan oleh setiap guru ketika melaksanakan pembelajaran persamaan linear satu variabel.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research is to identify learning obstacle experienced by junior high school students in learning one-variable linear equations and to find out more about the factors that cause these learning obstacle. This study uses a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach involving class VIII students. Data collection in this study used triangulation, including written tests, interviews, and analysis of the textbooks used. The results of this research identified four types of learning obstacle, namely psychological ontogenic learning obstacle, conceptual ontogenic learning obstacle, didactical learning obstacle, and epistemological learning obstacle. Factors that cause psychological ontogenic learning obstacle include: 1) students find mathematics difficult; 2) students don't like math lessons; 3) students only work on the questions to be collected; 4) many participants stated that they forgot about the material of one variable linear equation; 5) the class environment is less comfortable; and 6) a home environment that does not support participants to study hard. These factors need to be considered by every teacher when implementing one-variable linear equation learning.
