Abstract

Literasi matematis merupakan salah satu kemampuan yang penting untuk dimiliki oleh siswa demi mengahadapi abad ke-21. Literasi matematis merupakan kemampuan individu dalam merumuskan situasi matematis (formulate), menerapkan konsep fakta, prosedur, dan penalaran matematis (employ) dan menafsirkan, mengaplikasikan dan menevaluasi hasil matematis (interpret). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan gaya kognitif siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika, mendeskripsikan literasi matematis siswa dalam konten ruang dan bentuk khusunya pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar dan membahas literasi matematis siswa dalam konten ruang dan bentuk khususnya pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar ditinjau dari gaya kognitif. Partisipannya adalah 24 siswa SMP kelas IX pada salah satu SMP di Kabupaten Bekasi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT), tes literasi matematis dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (i) siswa field independent memiliki capaian literasi matematis yang lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan siswa field dependent dalam menyelesaikan soal tes literasi matematis pada konten ruang dan bentuk; (ii) siswa field independent sebagian besar sudah mencapai indikator formulate, sedangkan siswa field dependent hanya setengahnya mencapai indikator formulate. Pada indikator employ, siswa field independent hampir setengahnya sudah mencapai indikator employ, sedangkan siswa field dependent hanya sebagian kecil yang mencapai indikator employ. Pada indikator interpret, siswa field independent hampir seluruhnya sudah mencapai indikator interpret, sedangkan pada siswa field dependent hampir setengahnya sudah mencapai indikator interpret. Mathematical literacy is one of the important abilities to be possessed by students in order to face the 21st century. Mathematical literacy is the ability of individuals to formulate mathematical situations (formulate), apply concepts of facts, procedures, and mathematical reasoning (employ) and interpret, apply and evaluate mathematical results (interpret). This study aims to describe the cognitive style of students in learning mathematics, describe the mathematical literacy of students in the content of space and shape especially on the material of flat-sided space and discuss the mathematical literacy of students in the content of space and shape especially on the material of flat-sided space in terms of cognitive style. The participants were 24 junior high school students in grade IX at one of the junior high schools in Bekasi Regency. Data collection was done through Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT), mathematical literacy test and interview. The results showed that: (i) field independent students have superior mathematical literacy achievement compared to field dependent students in solving mathematical literacy test questions on space and shape content; (ii) field independent students have mostly achieved the formulate indicator, while field dependent students only half achieved the formulate indicator. In the employ indicator, almost half of the field independent students have reached the employ indicator, while only a small number of field dependent students have reached the employ indicator. In the interpret indicator, field independent students have almost entirely achieved the interpret indicator, while field dependent students have almost half achieved the interpret indicator.
