Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan desain tetrahedron didaktis pembelajaran fungsi yang merupakan sebuah setting aktivitas belajar yang dikembangkan dengan memperhatikan hubungan yang komprehensif antara guru, siswa, materi pembelajaran, dan teknologi. Desain dikembangkan dengan pendekatan realistik untuk mengatasi dan mengantisipasi munculnya kesulitan belajar serta diharapkan dapat mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir aljabar siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah design research. Pelaksanaan penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua tahap. Setiap tahapan penelitian mengacu pada tiga langkah design research, yaitu penyusunan desain awal (preliminary design), eksperimen pengajaran (teaching experiment), dan analisis retrospektif (retrospective analysis). Data diperoleh dari berbagai sumber, di antaranya adalah hasil jawaban siswa terhadap tes yang diberikan serta jawaban tugas siswa selama teaching experiment, rekaman video peristiwa selama eksperimen pengajaran, lembar observasi, dan hasil wawancara. Pada November 2019 dilakukan penelitian pendahuluan yang melibatkan 28 siswa kelas IX untuk mengetahui hambatan atau kesulitan siswa dalam materi relasi dan fungsi. Kesulitan siswa yang teridentifikasi dalam menyelesaikan soal kemampuan berpikir aljabar antara lain adalah kesulitan dalam menggunakan pola hubungan untuk menganalisis situasi, kesulitan dalam menerjemahkan representasi yang berbeda, kesulitan dalam membuat dan menggunakan simbol, notasi visual atau spasial, dan kata atau kalimat dalam memodelkan dan menyelesaikan masalah, serta kesulitan dalam mengeksplorasi penyelesaian masalah yang berhubungan dengan topik atau disiplin ilmu lain. Berdasarkan analisis kesulitan siswa, dikembangkan desain tetrahedron didaktis dugaan. Desain tersebut meliputi uraian bahan ajar tetrahedron didaktis (UBA-TD) yang disusun berdasarkan model iceberg, local instruction theory (LIT), dan hypothetical learning trajectory (HLT). Desain yang dikembangkan selanjutnya diimplementasikan pada teaching experiment. Pada Agustus 2021 dilakukan teaching experiment tahap satu yang melibatkan 29 orang siswa kelas VIII-A MTs Istiqlal Jakarta sebagai partisipan. Adapun teaching experiment tahap dua dilakukan pada Oktober – November 2021 yang melibatkan 28 siswa kelas VIII-B MTs Istiqlal Jakarta. Berdasarkan analisis hasil implementasi desain, aktivitas-aktivitas yang dikembangkan pada desain tetrahedron didaktis mengalami beberapa perbaikan hingga tersusun desain tetrahedron didaktis revisi. Penggunaan desain tetrahedron didaktis dengan pendekatan realistik dalam pembelajaran fungsi dapat mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir aljabar siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil tes akhir kemampuan berpikir aljabar pada pembelajaran fungsi di mana siswa sudah mampu menguasai indikator-indikator kemampuan berpikir aljabar pada materi fungsi dengan ketercapaian untuk setiap indikator rata-rata melebihi 70%. ABSTRACT This study aims to develop the didactical tetrahedron design on learning functions, a learning activity setting that considers the comprehensive relationship between teachers, students, learning materials, and technology. The design was developed using a realistic approach to overcome and anticipate the emergence of learning difficulties and is expected to develop students' algebraic thinking skills. The research method used in this research is design research. The implementation of this research was carried out in two stages. Each stage of the study refers to the three steps of design research, namely the preliminary design, teaching experiment, and retrospective analysis. The data was obtained from various sources, including students' answers to the tests given and solutions to student assignments during the teaching experiment, video recordings of events during the teaching experiment, observation sheets, and interview results. In November 2019, a preliminary study was conducted involving 28 students of class IX to find out the obstacles or difficulties of students in relation and function material. The identified difficulties of students in solving algebraic thinking skills questions on function materials include difficulties in using relationship patterns to analyze situations, difficulties in translating different representations, difficulties in making and using symbols, visual or spatial notation, and words or sentences in modeling and solving problems, and difficulties in exploring problem-solving related to other topics or disciplines. Based on the analysis of students' difficulties, a conjectured didactical tetrahedron design was developed. The design includes the didactical tetrahedron teaching materials which are based on the iceberg model, local instruction theory, and hypothetical learning trajectory. The design that was developed was then implemented in the teaching experiment. In August 2021, the first phase of the teaching experiment involved 29 students of class VIII-A MTs Istiqlal Jakarta as participants. The second phase of the teaching experiment was October – November 2021, involving 28 students of class VIII-B MTs Istiqlal Jakarta. Based on the analysis of the results of the design implementation, the activities developed in the didactic tetrahedron design underwent several improvements so that the revised didactic tetrahedron design was compiled. The use of a didactic tetrahedron design with a realistic approach to learning functions can develop students' algebraic thinking skills. This is evidenced by the results of the final test of algebraic thinking skills in learning function where most students have been able to master the indicators of algebraic thinking skills on function material with the average achievement for each indicator exceeding 70%.
