Abstract
Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) mengungkapkan sebanyak 70% siswa Indonesia tidak dapat menjawab soal berkategori Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi apakah terdapat pengaruh model discovery learning dalam peningkatan kemampuan Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) siswa pada materi bangun ruang sisi lengkung. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas IX di salah satu sekolah menengah pertama (SMP) di Kota Cimahi, Provinsi Jawa Barat. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik tes dan non-tes. Teknik tes terdiri dari pretest dan posttest, sedangkan teknik non-tes diperoleh melalui angket minat yang diberikan kepada siswa setelah memperoleh discovery learning. Hasil pengolahan data menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh peningkatan kemampuan Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) siswa pada materi bangun ruang sisi lengkung, di mana siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model discovery learning mendapatkan rata-rata peningkatan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode konvensional. Besar pengaruh model discovery learning terhadap peningkatan kemampuan Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) memperoleh 84% dan termasuk kategori tinggi. Secara umum minat siswa terhadap pelajaran matematika dengan model discovery learning memberikan hasil positif dengan kategori tinggi yang ditandai dengan persentase angket, yaitu sebesar 72,4%. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan pula bahwa model discovery learning dapat diterapkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) siswa terhadap materi bangun ruang sisi lengkung. The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) revealed that 70% of Indonesian students were unable to answer questions in the Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) category. This study aims to identify whether there is an influence of the discovery learning model in increasing students' Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) abilities in the curved side space structure. This research was conducted on grade IX students in one of the junior high schools (SMP) in Cimahi City, West Java Province. Data was collected using test and non-test techniques. The test technique consists of pretest and posttest, while the non-test technique is obtained through an interest questionnaire given to students after obtaining discovery learning. The results of data processing show that there is an effect of increasing the ability of students' Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) on the curved side space material, where students who take learning with discovery learning models get a higher average increase compared to students who take lessons with conventional methods. The large influence of the discovery learning model on increasing the ability of Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) is 84% and is included in the high category. In general, students' interest in mathematics with the discovery learning model gave positive results with a high category marked by the percentage of the questionnaire, which was 72.4%. Therefore, it can also be concluded that the discovery learning model can be applied to improve students' Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) abilities to the curved side space material.
