Abstract

ABSTRAK Pemahaman konsep merupakan hal terpenting pada setiap pembelajaran. Namun faktanya masih banyak siswa yang mempunyai pemahaman konsep yang rendah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh pendekatan Sains Teknologi Masyarakat terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa dalam tema Indahnya Keberagaman Negriku khususnya IPA. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif jenis kuasi eksperimen pada kelas IV A dan B di SDN Cikampek Selatan II. Dengan sampel 26 siswa kelas eksperimen dan 26 siswa kelas kontrol. Instrumen untuk mendapatkan data kuantitatif adalah melalui pretest dan posttest pengolahan data menggunakan aplikasi SPSS versi 23 dengan uji N-Gain, bahwa pada kelas kontrol sebesar 0,28 yang berada di kategori rendah, sedangkan pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,5 berada di kategori sedang, hal ini terbukti melaui uji perbedaan rata-rata sampel independent pada kelas kontrol dan eksperimen memperoleh nilai sig 0,000 < 0,05 sehingga H0 diterima H1 ditolak. Artinya adanya perbedaan pemahaman konsep siswa antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen setelah adanya pendekatan Sains Teknologi Masyarakat dan tanpa pendekatan Sains Teknologi Masyarakat. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa pada kelas eksperimen. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan merekomendasikan Pendekatan Sains Teknologi Masyarakat sebagai metode pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa pada pembelajaran IPA di sekolah dasar. ----- ABSTRACT Understanding the concept is the most important thing in every lesson. However in fact there are still many students who have low conceptual understanding . The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an influence of the STS approach on students' conceptual understanding in the theme of the Beauty of Diversity in my Country, especially science. This study uses a quasi-experimental research with pretest posttest control one group desain in grades IV A and B at SDN Cikampek Selatan II. With a sample of 26 students in the experimental class and 26 students in the control class. The instrument for obtaining quantitative data is through pretest and posttest data processing using the SPSS version 23 application with the N-Gain test, that in the control class is 0.28 and categorized as low category, while in theN-Gain experimental class is 0.5 on the medium category, this is proven through the test of the difference in the average of the independent samples in the control and experimental classes obtaining a sig value of 0.000 <0.05 so that H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected. This means that there are differences in students' conceptual understanding between the control class and the experimental class after the STS approach and without the Community Science Technology approach. It can be concluded that there is an influence on students' conceptual understanding in the experimental class. Based on the research that has been done, it recommends the STS Approach as a learning method to improve students' conceptual understanding in science learning in elementary schools.
