Abstract
Rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam membaca intensif terutama pada materi teks eksplanasi sering dialami oleh sejumlah siswa. Hal tersebut diperparah adanya pandemi Covid-19 sehingga guru dan siswa memiliki keterbatasan dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar. Siswa sulit memahami dan menangkap isi bacaan pada teks ilmiah seperti teks eksplanasi. Oleh karena itu, guru perlu berinisiatif untuk menggunakan media dalam pembelajarannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penerapan graphic organizer, mendekripsikan kemampuan membaca intensif siswa, dan menjelaskan kendala yang dialami siswa dalam membaca intensif teks eksplanasi menggunakan graphic organizer. Fokus penelitian ini yaitu pendeskripsian kemampuan membaca intensif siswa di kelas III SD Negeri Cinunuk 03 dalam materi teks eksplanasi menggunakan graphic organizer. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu analisis deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif dengan instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu wawancara, observasi, dan tes tertulis (lembar kerja peserta didik). Hasil penelitian yaitu siswa kelas III SD Negeri Cinunuk 03 memiliki kemampuan tinggi dalam membaca intensif teks eksplanasi. Hal tersebut sesuai aspek kemampuan membaca intensif yang diukur meliputi: kelengkapan informasi, informasi disajikan dengan urut/sistematis, informasi yang disampaikan tepat, dan kritis atau terdapat informasi tambahan yang relevan dengan topik. Penggunaan graphic organizer dapat membantu siswa dalam membaca intensif teks eksplanasi. Sebagian besar siswa memiliki kendala dalam membaca intensif teks eksplanasi yang dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal. Oleh karena itu, siswa akan memiliki kemampuan dalam membaca intensif yang tinggi apabila terdapat media yang mendukung pembelajaran membaca intensif terutama pada teks ilmiah seperti teks eksplanasi. ----- The low ability of students in intensive reading, especially in explanatory text material, is often experienced by a number of students. This is exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic so that teachers and students have limitations in teaching and learning activities. Students have difficulty understanding and capturing the contents of reading in scientific texts such as explanatory texts. Therefore, teachers need to take the initiative to use media in their learning. This study aims to describe the application of a graphic organizer, describe students' intensive reading skills, and explain the obstacles experienced by students in intensive reading of explanatory texts using a graphic organizer. The focus of this research is to describe the intensive reading ability of third grade students of SD Negeri Cinunuk 03 on explanatory text material using a graphic organizer. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach with research instruments used, namely interviews, observations, and written tests (worksheets). The results showed that the third grade students of SD Negeri Cinunuk 03 had high intensive reading skills of explanatory texts. This is in accordance with the aspects of intensive reading skills that are measured including: completeness of information, information is presented sequentially/systematically, information is conveyed correctly, and critically or there is additional information relevant to the topic. The use of graphic organizers can help students in intensive reading of explanatory texts. Most of the students have difficulties in reading intensive explanatory texts which are influenced by internal factors. Therefore, students will have high intensive reading skills if there are media that support intensive reading learning, especially in scientific texts such as explanatory texts.
