Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dari hasil observasi yang dilakukan di POS PAUD Tunas Dahlia,bahwa kemampuan memahami cerita anak usia dini masih rendah. Salah satu penyebab dari terjadinya kondisi ini karena guru kurang mengoptimalkan media pembelajaran yang ada dalam meningkatkan aspek perkembangan bahasa khususnya pada kemampuan menyimak anak usia dini. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1)untuk mengetahui proses kegiatan bercerita dengan menggunakan media big book, (2)untuk mengetahui kemampuan anak memahami cerita melalui metode bercerita menggunakan media big book. Selain itu, penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui dan memaparkan proses dari penerapan metode bercerita menggunakan media big book dalam mengembangkan kemampuan anak memahami cerita. Adapun subjek penelitian dari ini adalah anak-anak kelompok B di POS PAUD Tunas Dahlia, Kecamatan Banjaran, Kabupaten Bandung, dengan jumlah anak 15 orang, lima anak laki-laki dan sepuluh anak perempuan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dan dilaksanakan dalam dua kali pertemuan. Pengumpulan data dari penelitian ini dilakukan dengan teknik observasi, evaluasi pembelajaran, dan dokumentasi. Tahapan penelitian ini adalah pemilihan masalah, membuat rancangan penelitian, pengumpulan data, analisis data, dan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1)Proses kegiatan bercerita menggunakan media big book diadakan melalui dua kali pertemuan dengan setiap pertemuan terdiri dari tiga kegiatan yang berfokus pada kegiatan bercerita, perkembangan kognitif dan seni, (2)Hasil pembelajaran yang telah dilaksanakan, yakni penggunaan media big book memiliki dampak positif untuk anak, yaitu anak dapat menumbuhkan kemampuan memahami cerita. This research is motivated by the results of observations in POS PAUD Tunas Dahlia, the result show that the ability to understand early childhood stories is still low. This problem appeared, because of the lack of teachers' ability to optimize the learning instrument in improving the aspect of language development, especially in early childhood listening ability. The aim of this study was (1)to find out the process of storytelling activities using the big book media, (2)to determine the ability of children to understand stories through the method of storytelling using the big book media. In addition, this study was conducted to find out and describe the process of applying the method of storytelling using the big book media in developing children's ability to understand stories. The subjects of this study were group B children in POS PAUD Tunas Dahlia, Banjaran District, Bandung Regency, with 15 children, five boys, and ten girls. This research is qualitative research analyzed descriptively qualitative and carried out in two meetings. Data collection from this research was carried out by observation, learning evaluation, and documentation techniques. The steps of this research were the selected issue, making research designs, data collection, data analysis, and conclusions. The result of the utilization of teaching media in developing the cloud stimulated the development of the ability to understand stories. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that (1)The process of storytelling activities using the big book media is held through two meetings with each meeting consisting of three activities that focus on storytelling, cognitive development, and art activities, (2)Learning outcomes that have been implemented, namely the use of big book media has a positive impact on children, namely children can foster the ability to understand stories.
