Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa Sekolah Dasar. Pembelajaran matematika yang dilaksanakan guru hanya memberikan contoh-contoh soal dan latihan soal yang bersifat rutin sehingga kurang memfasilitasi siswa dalam mengembangkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Sejalan dengan permasalahan tersebut dilakukan upaya peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa melalui model IMPROVE. Model IMPROVE adalah model yang melibatkan tiga komponen yang saling bergantungan yaitu adanya aktivitas metakognitif, interaksi antara siswa dalam kelompok heterogen yang terdiri satu siswa berkemampuan tinggi, dua siswa berkemampuan sedang, dan satu siswa mempunyai kemampuan yang rendah, dan komponen ketiga yaitu umpan balik, pengkoreksian, dan pengayaan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa setelah memperoleh pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model IMPROVE, dan perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran model IMPROVE dan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent pretest postest control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IV SD di Kecamatan Cileunyi dengan sampel siswa kelas IV SDN Cibiru 10 dan siswa kelas IV SDN Sukamantri. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan: 1)Terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis setelah memperoleh pembelajaran denga model IMPROVE berdasarkan uji t one sample gain ternormalisasi diperoleh signifikansi 0,000 2)Terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model IMPROVE dan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional berdasarkan uji independent sample t test gain ternormalisasi diperoleh signifikansi 0,035. Rata-rata nilai gain kelas kontrol yaitu 0,461 lebih kecil dari kelas eksperimen yaitu 0,575, dengan demikian model IMPROVE dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif dalam upaya meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa SD. ----- This research is motivated by low mathematical problem solving ability of elementary school students. Mathematical lessons that do teachers only gives examples of problems and exercises that are routine problems not facilitate students to develop the mathematical problem solving abilities. In line with these problems, efforts are made to enhancement students' mathematical problem solving abilities through the IMPROVE learning model. IMPROVE model is a model that involves three interdependent components of metacognitive activity, interaction between students in a heterogeneous group consisting of one high-ability student, two medium-skilled students, and one student has low ability, and the third component is feedback, correction, and enrichment. The purpose of this research is to know the enhancement of students' mathematical problem solving ability after obtaining learning by using IMPROVE model, and the difference of the ability to solve mathematical problem between students who gain learning with IMPROVE model and students who get conventional learning. The research method used is quasi experiment with nonequivalent design pretest postest control group design. The population of this research is all 4th grade students of Elementary School in Cileunyi district. The sample of this study is the 4th grade students of SDN Cibiru 10 and 4th grade students of SDN Sukamantri. The results of this research establish are: 1)There is an enhancement of mathematical problem solving ability after obtaining learning with IMPROVE model based on the one sample t test result of a normalized gain sample with a significance score of 0,000 2)There are differences in the ability to solve mathematical problems between students who received learning with IMPROVE model and students who received conventional learning based on the independent sample t test of normalized gain with a significance score of 0.035. The average control class gain score of 0.4606 is smaller than the average gain score of the experimental class that obtains the learning with the IMPROVE model, thus IMPROVE model can be used as an alternative in an effort to enhancement of the abilitiy mathematical problem solving students Elementary School.
