Abstract

Sebagai seorang pelajar, mahasiswa harus memiliki pengetahuan yang luas. Salah satu cara untuk mendapatkan pengetahuan tersebut yaitu dengan membaca, semakin banyak membaca maka akan semakin banyak pula pengetahuan baru yang didapatnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui budaya membaca di kalangan mahasiswa Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar yaitu untuk mengetahui kebiasaan dan rutinitas membaca di kalangan mahasiswa serta permasalahan yang dialami mahasiswa ketika membaca. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber datanya yaitu 30 mahasiswa Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar di Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Kampus Sumedang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa membaca dapat menambah wawasan baru. Berdasarkan jenis bacaannya, kebanyakan mahasiswa yang berjumlah 25 (82,3%) suka membaca novel. Seluruh mahasiswa yang berjumlah 30 (100%) menyatakan lebih suka membaca sendirian. adapun tempat favorit untuk membaca yaitu sebanyak 26 (86,7%) mahasiswa menyatakan suka membaca di kamar. Sebanyak 15 (50%) mahasiswa suka membaca pada malam hari. Sebanyak 12 (40%) mahasiswa menyatakan suka membaca mulai dari SD. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk membangun kebiasaan membaca yaitu dengan mengatur jadwal kegiatan harian. Kebanyakan orang tidak suka membaca karena membaca itu merupakan kegiatan yang membosankan ditambah dengan isi bacaan yang kurang diminati dan tampilannya kurang menarik. Hal tersebut membuat mahasiswa tidak memiliki motivasi untuk membaca. As a student, college students must have extensive knowledge. One way to get this knowledge is by reading, the more you read, the more new knowledge you will get. This study was conducted to determine the reading culture among elementary school teacher education students to find out reading habits and routines among students and the problems experienced by students when reading. This research uses a case study research design with a qualitative approach. The data sources are 30 elementary school teacher education students at the Indonesia University of Education, Sumedang Campus. The results show that reading can add new insights. Based on their reading, most of the students who found 25 (82.3%) liked reading novels. All students who collected 30 (100%) stated that they preferred to read alone. As for the favorite place to read, as many as 26 (86.7%) students stated that they liked to read in their room. As many as 15 (50%) students like to read at night. As many as 12 (40%) students stated that they liked reading from elementary school. One way that can be done to build reading habits is to set a daily activity schedule. Most people do not like reading, it is a boring activity because it contains reading that is less attractive and looks less attractive. This makes students not have the motivation to read.
