Abstract
Penelitian ini dilakukan karena masih rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa. Penggunaan strategi ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (Classroom Action Research) yaitu tindakan penelitian yang dilakukan di dalam kelas yang bertujuan untuk memperbaiki kinerja guru dan kualitas pembelajaran sehingga kemampuan siswa dapat meningkat. Fokus penelitian ini adalah kemampuan membaca pemahaman melalui cerita anak pada siswa kelas IV A SDN Percobaan Cileunyi Kabupaten Bandung yang berjumlah 28 siswa. Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan instrumen penelitian yang telah disiapkan yaitu lembar observasi aktivitas guru, lembar observasi aktivitas siswa, lembar catatan lapangan, dan hasil tes membaca pemahaman. Pelaksanaan tindakan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari penjajagan kondisi awal dan dua siklus intervensi instruksional yang mencakup perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, penggunaan strategi CIRC dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa. Siswa termotivasi dan lebih aktif ketika pembelajaran berlangsung. Berdasarkan analisis terhadap hasil belajar membaca pemahaman siswa selama proses tindakan dapat dikatakan memuaskan. Kemampuan membaca pemahaman meningkat pada tiap siklusnya jika dibandingkan dari kondisi awal. Dilihat dari perolehan rata-rata nilai keseluruhan siswa, pada kondisi awal nilai rata-rata mencapai 55,56, pada siklus I 71,39 dan pada siklus II 78,4. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, disarankan kepada guru SD untuk menggunakan strategi CIRC dalam pembelajaran membaca pemahaman sebagai salah satu solusi meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman. The use of CIRC strategy is expected to improve their reading comprehension. The method used was Classroom Action Research, namely research conducted in the classroom aimed to improve teacher’s performance and teaching and learning quality so that students’ ability can improve. The research was focused on the ability of reading comprehension through children’s story among as many as 28 fourth graders of State Experimental Primary School Cileunyi Bandung Regency. Data were obtained using the already prepared research instruments, namely observation sheet for teacher activity, observation sheet for student activity, field notes, and reading comprehension test results. The treatment given in this research consisted of exploring initial condition and two instructional intervention cycles, covering planning, conduct, observation, and reflection. Based on the research results, the use of CIRC strategy could improve students’ reading comprehension ability. The students were motivated and became more active during the teaching and learning. Based on the analysis of students’ learning achievements during the process, their reading comprehension could be said to be satisfactory. Their reading comprehension experienced improvement in each of the cycles compared to the initial condition. In the initial condition, the gained average score of all students reached 55.56, in cycle I 71.39, and in cycle II 78.4. Based on these results, it is recommended that elementary school teachers use CIRC strategy in the teaching and learning of reading comprehension as one of the solutions to improve reading comprehension ability.
