Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan kegiatan pembelajaran yang terpaku pada LKA yang berisikan kegiatan mewarnai, menghitung, menggunting, menulis (menebalkan) huruf atau angka. Hal itu membuat anak merasa cepat bosan dan terkadang ada anak lebih memilih menyelesaikan tugasnya di rumah dan ingin melakukan kegiatan bermain. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui cara penerapan kegiatan bermain dengan media loose part dan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis anak setelah kegiatan bermain dengan media loose part. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian tindakan (PT) model Pelton. Setiap tindakan terdiri dari lima langkah meliputi: identifikasi masalah, pengumpulan data, perencanaan tindakan, merencanakan aktivitas, dan penilaian hasil. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Pengumpulan data penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen berupa lembar observasi anak dalam proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan berfikir kritis anak meningkat pada setiap tindakan. Hal ini terlihat pada aspek Asking Question (bertanya), Point of view (sudut pandang), Being rational, Finding out, dan aspek analysis. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan bermain dengan media loose part dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis pada anak usia dini. ----- This research is motivated by the problem of learning activities that are fixated on the LKA (Child’s Workbook) containing activities of colouring, counting, cutting, writing (bold) letters or numbers. It made children feel bored quickly and prefer to complete their tasks at home and wanted to have play activities. The aims of this study were to find out how to apply playing activities with loose part media and to determine the improvement of children's critical thinking skills after playing activities with loose part media. The research method used in this study was the Pelton’s action research. Each action consists of five steps including: problem identification, data collection, action planning, activity planning, and outcome assessment. The technique of collecting data was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research data was obtained from the child's observation sheet during the learning process. The results showed that the children’s critical thinking skills increased in each action. This can be seen in the aspects of Asking Questions, Point of view, Being rational, Finding out, and aspects of analysis. Thus, it can be concluded that playing activities with loose part media can improve critical thinking skills in early childhood.
