Abstract

Status sosial ekonomi orang tua sangat mempengaruhi gaya hidup yang dijalankan oleh anaknya. Pada status sosial ekonomi orang tua yang tinggi akan lebih baik dalam menjalankan fungsi pendidikan dan juga pemenuhan kebutuhan materi. Namun, hal tersebut tidak ditemukan pada mahasiswa dengan gaya hidup hedonis. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh status sosial ekonomi orang tua terhadap gaya hidup hedonis pada mahasiswa Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah mixed-methods dengan strategi eksplanatoris sekuensial. Pada penelitian kuantitatif ditemukan bahwa kondisi status sosial ekonomi orang tua mahasiswa Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia berada pada kategori menengah ke atas.Indikator yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah pendidikan, pekerjaan dan penghasilan untuk variable status sosial ekonomi orang tua dan indikator aktivitas, minat dan opini untuk varibel gaya hidup hedonis. Untuk perolehan data statistik ditemukan bahwa nilai signifikansinya sebesar 0,007 yang artinya lebih kecil dari 0,05, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa variabel Status Sosial Ekonomi (X) berpengaruh terhadap variabel Gaya Hidup Hedonis Mahasiswa (Y). Sedangkan pada penelitian kualitatif ditemukan faktor gaya hidup hedonis dilatarbelakangi oleh kelompok referensi dan keluarga. Serta bentuk gaya hidup hedonis yang ditemukan pada mahasiswa Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia diantaranya, perilaku konsumtif, senang menghabiskan waktu di luar rumah dan orientasi pada barang bermerk. The socioeconomic status of parents greatly influences the lifestyle of their children. At high socioeconomic status, parents will be better at carrying out the function of education and also meeting material needs. However, this was not found in students with hedonic lifestyles. Therefore, this study aims to determine how the influence of the socioeconomic status of parents on the hedonic lifestyle of students at the University of Indonesia Education. The method used in this research is mixed-methods with sequential explanatory strategy. In quantitative research, it was found that the condition of the socioeconomic status of the parents of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia students was in the upper middle category. The indicators used in the study were education, employment and income for the variable of parents' socioeconomic status and indicators of activity, interest and opinion for the style variable. hedonistic life. A mixed method with a sequential explanatory strategy is used as the main technique of this research. In the quantitative part of this research, it is observed that the social economy class of the students’ parents in Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia is upper-middle of which statistically, it is observed that the significance level is 0,007, smaller than 0,05, which could be concluded that the variable ‘Status Sosial Ekonomi (X)’ significantly affects the variable ‘Gaya Hidup Hedonis Mahasiswa (Y)’. Whereas in the qualitative part of this research it is observed that the factors of hedonic lifestyle among students are motivated by their reference group and family background. Furthermore, the hedonic lifestyles which could be found among students of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia include, consumtive behaviour, going out frequently, and the tendency to choose branded items.
