Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam menulis biografi singkat. Oleh karena itu, dengan adanya stratégi questioning diharapkan siswa dapat mengatasi persoalan tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam pembelajaran menulis biografi singkat sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan strategi questioning, dan untuk mengetahui ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan menulis biografi singkat sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan strategi questioning. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen, dengan desain one-group pretest-posttest design. Teknik yang digunakan adalah teknik tes. Adapun instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar tes. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP YAS Bandung kelas VII-B yang berjumlah 47 siswa yang terdiri atas 21 siswa perempuan dan 26 siswa laki-laki. Hasil penelitiannya menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan menulis biografi singkat sebelum menggunakan stratégi questioning dengan rata-rata 55,25, kemampuan menulis biografi singkat sesudah menggunakan stratégi questioning dengan rata-rata 74,40, dan ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara pretest dan posttest menggunakan stratégi questioning berdasarkan hasil titung (16,55) ≥ ttabél (2,40). Dengan demikian, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi questioning bisa meningkatkan kemampuan menulis biografi singkat kepada siswa kelas VII-B SMP YAS Bandung tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Therefore, with questioning strategy, the students are expected to be able in overcoming the problem. This research attempts to describe students’ ability in writing a short biography before and after using questioning strategy and the significant difference between students’ ability in writing a short biography before and after using questioning strategy. The method used in this research was quasi-experimental method, with one-group pretest-posttest design and the technique used was test technique. The instrument used was worksheet. This research was conducted in SMP YAS Bandung class VII B which consisted of 47 students. The results were students’ ability in writing a short biography before using questioning strategy with the mean score was 55,25, students’ ability in writing a short biography after using questioning strategy with the mean score was 77,40, and there was significant difference between pretest and posttest of using questioning strategy based on the result of titung (16,55) ≥ ttabél (2,40). Therefore, the hypotheses of this research shows that questioning strategy could improve students’ ability in writing a short biography in class VII-B SMP YAS Bandung 2013/2014.
