Abstract
Writing is one of the skills in language that is still needed in human life. Writing skills cannot come by itself, but must also go through various good, correct, and gradual training processes. Writing skills will be easier if applied to children starting at the age of basic education, because at that age children will easily accept and also understand what basic learning they have just received. This research can be motivated by the low skills of students in writing and what factors affect students' skills in writing descriptive texts. The research design used is a qualitative type of research using descriptive methods. The subjects to be studied are 5 (five) students from class V Elementary School, consisting of 1 (one) male student and 4 (four) female students. This study also explains how students' skills in writing a descriptive text using picture media are in the fifth grade of SD Negeri Marongge. To get the data on the student's skills and the sources of the data obtained, the researchers used the instruments of observation, tests, and interviews. The data from this study indicate that the level of students' descriptive text writing skills using image media is quite good.
